Gonna ask, but betting there's not much I can do about it.

64 Plymouth. Not the original hood for the car. But, figured a 64 hood would fit right, regardless.
I took this car down, every bolt and nut, to the bare shell. Also had to remove the cowling plate, to deal with the usual rusted area at the driver's side. For what it's worth, cowl was put back on, using the original spot weld locations, across the board.
Entire car was painted...apart...separate pieces.

Problem...hood to cowling fit. The rear of the hood, center, is too high...about 3/8" too high.
Worked half a day, on the floor, with the hood, trying to take out some of the height. But, only lowered it around an eighth of a inch.
Both rear edges will go flush, but that's about it.

Suppose I'm stuck?

Suppose nobody else has had this prob...guess I'm doing the Lone Ranger thing, again.

I hope you find a way to correct it. I won't know if mine is out for a little while yet, about to spray epoxy tomorrow.

bigger hammer, or have a fat buddy jump on it, gotta be the hood, if you followed the old cowl welds, worst thing have to repaint hood, or do a black hood, good luck hope it works out,

this is why I try to mock up everything possible prior to paint. I have learned to assume nothing...... you would be shocked to see all the dices, slices, and reliefs I have put into visually un-phukked sheet metal parts to make an acceptable fit

I hope you find a way to correct it.
Thanks for the thought, Glenwood. When I first got the hood, slapped it up over the hole, and noticed that problem. Besides making cuts into the rear flange (not willing to do), it sits where it sits.
Real irritated about it. Lol, yeah tried the fat lady thing, kinda...how I got an 1/8" out, but without tearing things up...no more.

Cowl plate went back on 'exactly' where it was, something I was real careful about.

Suppose the main thing that screwed me up, was my free paint job. That messed up any lining up parts check, since all the parts were painted separately. Good friend of mine had a truck paint shop, getting ready to close up, and retire. Wanted to paint the car, for free, but done in a short time. As the story goes......

just epoxied my front clip...what a treat! Not one of my favourite tasks and the smell is terrible. Now to figure out when to paint it or apply 2k primer. I think I have 48 hours according to the spec sheet.

Maybe it is the hood and not how the cowl was installed. I thought about trying the hood before I fit the cowl back on but I took off the inner fender braces is such a way that I couldn't really bolt the hood back on properly. All I can do is hope now!
