My rear raised white letters have turned a light brown. The fronts have stayed white. (See Pics).

I have used tire cleaning products on rear with no luck. I even used my dad's old method....Comet and still no luck.

Any recommendations on getting the rears to turn white again? And any ideas on what
causes this? Tires are 4 months old. Thanks.

Used to be a tire cleaner I used years ago, when I had time to clean white letter tires, called bleach white. It might do the trick. Otherwise take them back were you got them and see what they say or do.

Westleys has been around a long time and at one time I think that they made the old tire black that we used Dupont had some stuff also and I think there was Millers

i've used solvent on the most problematic areas with great results. sometimes water based cleaning methods won't get it all. (but be real careful when using it)

the new cleaners that have come since they started clear coating the wheels I would read the instructions very good cause most will damage the wheels same way with cleaners for the interiors now days

seen this along time ago I had posted a video on detailing tires and wheels ,not sure I would use this brass brush on custom wheels

30 years ago I could get away with sugar soap, and shoe polish for cleaning the tyres, and getting the white letters clean. I think the white compound has changed over time, and I have noticed more browning on the white. Must be the process or the formula.
It is very difficult to keep them clean and sparkling white.

I wouldn't put it past the EPA making changes in all the process of making the tires to the cleaning industry ,formulas are changing big time

This is the stuff you are talking about. Always worked well for me. In fact I used it today on my raised white letters.

Sandpaper. Sounds stupid right? just a light sand with a 180-240 ish sand paper and they come up nice.

I'd personally stay away from paint, to me, it looks unnatural and flakes. The 'White' on the letters isn't really that white, so if you paint a stark white onto it then it looks really off to me. Too distracting. Sanding gets the letters back to their original colour. Takes basically nothing off them, more like a harsh clean.

I use to use comet on white walls too. If that didn't do it I've used a good soapy brillo.

If that doest work there must be a contaminate in the white.

Interesting, I have that exact same problem with my BFGs, rears get brownish tinge and fronts stay white, now the tires are two different sizes. I used bleach white, and it really didn't do much but then used simple green and a fine steel wool and they brightened up, but not long after they start going back to a brownish tint. I think its just the way those tires were made.

I bought the Bleach White yesterday and I'm going to give it a go....and maybe use an SOS pad with it. When I was restoring my Challenger those SOS pad did wonders with a lot of parts cleaning. If this fails then we go to Simple Green.

Always can use tire cleaner so not wasting money.

BTW, my rear tires are larger than front. Maybe we got something here.
