Wax On Wax Off

Does anybody wax their cars anymore? I just waxed my GTX for the first time since I've owned it. I have been using ShowTime car detailer prior and it did fine. But I just felt like giving it a good wax by hand.

What are the thoughts of waxing nowadays? Is it old school or do you all still wax on wax off?

I don't think waxing is old school. Nothing brings a nice paint job more to life more than a nice paste wax job. I use the hard paste wax maybe once or twice a year. Then in between I use the spray on rub off - Maguires or Turtle wax have long been my favorites. I love a nicely waxed car - daily driver or show car. It's about pride of ownership and maxing the beauty of your ride. Keep doing it...

That does a great job....but you ever notice that all the vids of people doing it are in a nice air conditioned shop! Lol!

I still wax mine. I use Meguiar's NXT and apply it with a wool buffing pad.

I hand-waxed the Nimitz, in my carpeted/air-conditioned shop. It was still a bitch.....but looks goooood.

I've always used the Mcguires Cleaner Wax #6 on custom paint. It's very easy to apply by hand or machine. Wipes off very easily because it is thin not heavy. The heavier waxes collect so much dirt and has to be removed with a clay bar or cleaner to reapply.

It will normally last for about six months, being outside in the elements. A lot longer on a vehicle under cover. You can reapply and you will see it cleaning as you go. Only buy the tan bottle. The red bottle that you find in walmart is not the same. Once you use it you wont use anything else. Great stuff!

Detailing paint is always high on the list. Just buffed the GTX with the 3M compound, Polish, ultra polish system body shops use. Finished it with Adams buttery wax.
