Hi fellas,
Anyone using Gates plastic hose clamps? Any problems? Seems like a stealthy idea.
Mike

I know people who've used them, and had nothing bad to say. I'm gonna put them on my `cuda project.

Have them on the 55 going on 6+ years, installed on my wife's 68 no issues yet... I do however keep a couple of clamps just in case...

Got them on my 440 radiator hose to water neck work great getting ready to put them on fuel lines. Then I won't cut my hands when cleaning under hood

Here is one on water neck

Hey mike, that's some nifty rad hose ya got there. And love the inner fender bracing. Got any details?
Thanks, Its my wife's 68 Mustang I finished up in April...nothing special really....mostly stock...5 long years of saving here, trading there poor boying it....only thing I didn't do on it was the seat covers and the paint.
The line is made out of stainless that you can buy from Jegs or Summit. Welded up to where the hard line met the radiator and t-stat housing, cut about 3-4" piece of hose to use as a coupler/ isolator the just heated up the Gator Grips... I think it looks different...she gets a lot of compliments on it....

great idea, and i already have a heat gun. seems like the same principle as wiring shrink tubes.

My buddy used the Gates clamps on his 37 Ford hot rod. Had to pull the radiator twice for various problems so had to cut the clamps off. Not real economical if you do it his way but they look cool...

After seeing them on Goons ride I decided to try them out when installing my A/C, I really like them. I was worried that they wouldn't have enough clamping force but you can actually see the shape of the barb forming threw the hose as you shrink it.

Pretty cool, I don't remember seeing those before either. Yeah, I wouldn't put them on until after I had everything really dialed in and running well.

Used them for years on semi's. You have to get THE correct size though. Even with spring-loaded hose clamps you had a problem with leakage between hot&cold temps causing seepage.Especially after 10hr runs and sitting for day or two in winter and really getting cold. They do work.

Great looking car. Love 68's, just the right year - shed the beach boy 6cyl look yet before the fake louvre and gimmicks.

Mike, were do you get the metal pipe that is between the radiator and the tstat housing?
