So I had my rear end blasted (My rear end sure feels blasted anyways!!) and this was a surprise being able to look at it all cleaned up!

I'm going to scrap this and we will build a sheet metal rear end. Since we will have all of the template if anyone is considering sheet metal rear for a 8 3/4 let me know and I can price one out as it makes sense to build a few.

Very typical. Not hard to straighten and back brace.

I didn't realize this was common. Still going to replace with sheet metal housing and 3.25" axle tubes. Now is the time!

Wow! Were you running slicks? Personally, I've never seen a rear end housing bent that bad. It's making me a little nervous about my 8-3/4". I may have to speed up my plans for a back-brace at least.

If you over do it tightening it on the trailer might bend a housing too.

This car was in an accident or possibly several accidents long before I got my hands on it. I'm thinking this is just another one of the results of that

That's a terribly bent housing. Never seen one bent like that from racing.

Yes GOON . . . that is very typical . . . even had my axle housing bent on the Convertible ( not as bad as your - but it was bent ). When 747Mopar and I shortened the axle 3" on each side, we found out ( 1/2" off where it should have been ) - and we pressed it back before welding it up . . . and as noted above - added reinforcement to the back of the housing too . . .

And now it's powder coated - this is going to look really good under the car . . . can't wait . . .

I do't think it will be getting bent anymore . . .
