so my question is are all Dana 60s with 3.54 open diffs? I haven't been able to come up with a clear answer.

I've never actually seen a passenger car one, that was.

I've never seen a non-SG 3.54 Dana in a car.

All chrysler cars that had a dana had a Spicer powr lok

My '71 charger has a Dana 60 and it has the ratio tag that say 3.54. And it will only spin one tire at a time. Sometimes it will spin on the driver side and other times on the passenger side. An ideas?

Unless someone put a open in it

Can you post a picture of the rear end cover.

All Danas in cars that I have seen were locked . Does your dana have a pinion snubber .? Just jack your back end of the car up so both tires are off the ground. Put the tranny in park or in gear for the standard stuff . spin a rear wheel with your hands , if the other wheel spins in the opposite direction then it's an open differential . If the rear wheels won't spin then the diff is locked. now put in neutral and again spin one rear wheel with your hands. both wheels should spin in the same direction. you say one wheel spins sometimes and the other wheel spins other times. I think you have some trouble in the diff.

Perhaps somebody at one time put in the wrong oil. Try draining it and making sure that oil for a sure-grip is in there.

yeah - no open diffs in passenger cars from the factory. As said - one could have been put in if the car is gone through. But chances are, it's just got a blown sure-grip which can be in most cases rebuilt.
