Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a question concerning the AFB that was on my 1967 Belvedere II. It is a 383 4 speed car that was unrestored and pretty much factory original when I got it. The carburetor that came with the car has 2 different part numbers. The bronze tag on the top is stamped 4298S, which my research shows to be from a 1967 383 manual trans car (575 CFM). However, the number stamped on the base of the carb is 4131S C6 which seems to be from a 1966 383 A/T car (also 575 CFM). My car was built in CA, so I'm surprised neither of these are CA carbs. The engine was allegedly rebuilt several years ago, so I guess it is possible either the tag, carb or both were switched.
Does anyone have any idea why there would be 2 different numbers? And, does the results of my online research seem correct? I'm a recent convert to the world of MOPAR after over 50 years of Chevrolets, so I'm in the learning stage. I've chased one Plymouth or another over the years, but this is my first purchase.
Thanks for your assistance!!

Hard to say based on those pics.....Someone placed the wrong tag on this carb? Someone switched top plates?

i would think the number stamped on the base would be correct.

The tag is correct,the carb is not,carb is a 66 C-body.

All, thanks for your responses. As 62MAX mentioned, I suspect the carb was wrong and the tag was changed when the engine was rebuilt. Still, since the car was manufactured in California, I would think the correct carb would be 4309, not 4298. Thanks, again!
