I'm looking for some advice and or Rotissorie plans, I purchased the tubing and wheels today, I have the general idea of how to build it, I saw a bearing kit for one, wow way too high. I was just going to use two different diameter size pipes at the head, What have ya'll used to make the unit rotate.

I made one with boat winches for lifting instead of hydraulics. I used different sized pipes and just use bolts for the stops. Mine isn't adjustable, i just guessed on what i thought the center mass of the car would be. I need a friend or my wife to put the pivot stops in but i managed to guess fairly well. I can send you rough measurements tomorrow if youre interested.

I don't have any plans for one, but I can post some pictures of mine later if you'd want. Mine has round tubing at the head like you mentioned with a big set screw to hold it in position. When the body's weight is centered with the pivots it takes very little effort to spin the body. I bought mine years ago from a little welding shop in Indiana. It's a well built, fully adjustable, uses jackscrews and hydraulic hoist jacks to raise and lower the body. It would be very easy to copy.

His sounds much nicer than mine

Thanks all, found some pics and cheap plans on a site after I posted, they all seem to be about the same, I'm probably not going to use the jacks and set it in a permament position that will work for the charger and roadrunner in my garage, They are sitting on blocks as it is I shouldnt have to raise them mutch.

Not trying to discourage you on your project, I'll say that as you assemble your car the center of gravity will change making it harder to rotate and hold the body in place without adjustment. In my case not having a lift, I can raise the body high enough to place the eng, trans, k member assembly underneath and let the body down over it. That came in real handy when modifying the tunnel to fit the 5 speed trans. Good luck on your project.

I've built I think like 5 or 6 Rotisseries so far, I have 3 that I use all the time, my 4th one I bought for cheap from a bloke who was in way over his head and he sold it for cheap to get out of his hole. One of them I built is bearing laden, I used some discarded wheel hubs like off a FWD minivan and the associated rotors, it took a bit of 'thinking' to make it work and be secure and safe. Feel free to look at my website and study the pictures of the Rotisseries.

Nice Work and Nice site....too bad I am a day's drive away..

There is a thread on garagejournal.com detailing a rotisserie build you might like. Search the MP&C threads. If some of you members haven't visited GJ be prepared to be amazed!

Thanks, that's a great reference. The plans and pics tell it all and are easy to follow. Thanks again!

Sounds like the one we made. Me, my friend, his brother-in-law built one and used it on 3 cars now. My friends brother-in-law is a oil driller and he had all of the metal needed for what we wanted. Free metal and about $400 total for HD hydraulic jacks, casters to roll it around and nuts and bolts. We had it all welded together in a afternoon an made it so we can dis-assemble it fairly easy. Bolts up where the bumper mounts to. It was used for 2 RR's and a 'Cuda.

There are many ways to make one just up to your preference. IF the car is centered correctly on a rotisserie, it can rotate easy
