I've learned my lesson after trying to push water into 4" holes not to mention the stink that comes out of them..... put a P trap in this one

A little secret is you can take mineral oil. 1/2 cup and pour it down the drain...it will keep odors and critters from coming out of the drain. You can do it every couple of months as a pm...

Got maybe a week of finishing one block wall, pouring them full of concrete and setting anchors then it's on like Donkey Kong! Been playing with lumber since an infant so it's more in my element than playing in concrete and mud.
 
I see you used a trough drain have to love them
First rain and no puddles you will be so happy

This was a rough weekend, stayed up untill 4:30 in the morning leveling gravel, installing the drain, conduit, water line, vapor barrier and rebar then woke up at 7:30 to start pouring...
Ended up just pouring the whole floor 5 inches thick with 1/2 rebar so it should be no problem supporting the lift, I'll just use epoxy to set the anchors and call it done. As you can see the post survived, thought on it long and hard, just to much weight for a beam spanning 32 ft that also has to support another beam.. I know I'll hate it but whataya gonna do?

Depressing night, I sat down to right out some checks and square away my records:(. I'm spending like a drunken sailor...... on the plus side the extra money has gone to making a very stout foundation but now I'll be cutting it close now. The 24X24 parking garage is off till next summer because of the fill dirt needing to settle but there's no funds for it anyhow although I have the lumber and trusses. Looks like I bought more blocks than I needed so I'll just keep laying or try to sell them???

Got the electric company coming out to install service soon, it will be nice having a security light for working at night:D.

Plan is lay the rest of the block by Friday then have the walls poured and anchors installed by the end of tge the weekend. Then it's framing time.
 
It's sure not hard to go through money during construction, a little more here, a little more there to get it right. On our shop project, we went into it with the attitude that it would be a somewhat long term project. As long as we had the walls up and the roof on it and the floor poured we could finish when the time and money allowed. It was almost 2 years from the time we started until I moved my tools and equipment into it. I didn't help that Dad died about half way into it. That was the last project that I got to work on with him. I think he would have liked how it turned out.

I put a level on the floor and it's got about an 1/8" slope to the drain in 4ft so they did well, should drain. I definitely like the trough drain.

I'm sure he would, my dad's health is decaying slowly but it doesn't stop him from helping. With my hours at work he's been a huge help just picking up supplies that I'd otherwise have to take time off to get, he's always there when I need him and always has been.

As far as the money goes it's been mostly gravel and concrete adding up. The rain washing my footer walls in and the mud ate up gravel then the decision to go with a thicker floor just added up not to mention a **** ton of rebar. Like I said this is the foundation and you don't want to skimp here.
 
Decided to lay 2 extra coarses to use up the blocks, finishing it today!!!! I'll start filling block afterwards and be framing in days.:thumbsup: My boy came out again and pitched in, he's getting it down.

Called Worth, my lift is a week and a half from shipping so about 2 weeks:).
 
Are you going to set the lift and finish the building around it?

As for the money, I saved all of my receipts but I hope to never add them up lol.

No, I don't want the lift getting in the way or getting rained on, dinged up, etc. I'll just put it in the other garage until I'm ready.
 
That's awesome your son is learning to use his hands for something other than a smart phone of video game. Get him some gloves that fit and he'll be a happy camper.

Thanks, getting excited to start framing but still stressed over winter closing in...

Looks like they'll be setting the electric pole either this week or next. The security light will be very handy along with the breaker that I can plumb a cord into for now.
 
So much for nice weather! Larry (Kahn) and my brother in law called and extended a helping hand with framing this weekend so getting all the anchors installed was high priority. Mother nature did not cooperate, mixed and poured concrete for hours in nonstop rain:(. Pretty worn out after a week of bucketing concrete into 6ft tall walls and that's just the anchors, lot's more to be filled tonight!


Debating on whether or not to fill the rest of the wall to the top, I stopped with the rebar once I got above grade so I don't think it's necessary to go above that, eats up a lot of time.
