I have a 73 Satellite / RR clone that was stripped of anything not needed for racing before I bought it. The front forward areas of the front fenders were / are almost wide open to the wheel wells. See attached pictures form passenger side fender from front of radiator support to wheel well and from inside facing forward of same fender well. I got a rusty piece for each side from a Mopar reseller but there is a void and my factory manual does not show or describe anything else. You can see from the pictures the openings that I think are normally closed and sealed somehow. I just installed them to see how they fit before I clean them up. Any pictures of what I don't have would be appreciated as well as where to get them.

i think there was square rubber splash shields, looks to be missing

Thanks for the reply. I would ask if you could take a snap shot of yours but I think yours is a 72 and the nose is different although the inner fender might be the same.

Looks like they cut the fender. Should look like this...

Wow, it looks like yours is completely sealed off. I wish I could see one in person. You wouldn't consider driving up to New Jersey, would you??? I would give you all the beer you could drink.

'All the beer... " you say? :D In all seriousness, I can try to get you some better pics tomorrow. Here's one I stumbled across after a quick Google search that shows the bottom though not great. Looks like maybe you'll want to round up some donor fenders for patch pieces. I was hoping you were going to say yours were fiberglass, I would take them off your hands and get you set up with a rust free set.

Awww, come on, Did I tell you the beer is on tap?!?
I thank you for helping me out. My fenders are steel and in great shape. I would and may have to fab something to block them off. I do not see any evidence of cutting anything away on mine; I think they just unbolted those pieces that appear to bolt in place. Any other pictures would be a great help. I might try calling Tony's parts where I think I got the rusty pieces I put in there as it is. Tomorrow is another day. Any help at all is good! Those extra pics you sent really look like I am definitely missing sheet metal. By the way, is that a shot of your car in your avatar? If so it's beautiful and obviously a screamer! You should post a photo garage!
:thankyou:

By the way, for more history on my problem, see my (long) post in (Heating and Cooling) from this July titled
"Cooling Airflow Question, 2 part". It sheds more light on what I have been going through although I am seeing light at the end of my tunnel now, thank God!!!

I keep looking at your pictures and I am having a hard time figuring out where you are exactly. Are you looking for the area behind the headlight?

Yes and in front of it to the side behind the headlights by the horn.

Bear with me hear. Looked at my parts car that still has fenders on it and looking at the fenders on the tops shelf.

Thanks, yes you both got it. That's the part I need. By the way, I see that you are new, welcome aboard!

thank you. If you can't find one let me know I have a couple fenders and can get you some measurements if you are going to fab your own. And also have a junk fender that if you want I can drill the spot welds out and send it to you.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I will let you know. By the way, where the heck is Ebensburg? I will have to check back later as my shift here is over for the night.

Thank you idrive, pictures are beautiful. I am not sure what or where I am looking at with the black sprayed areas. Also, in your last picture; is the part I am missing in anyway welded in place or a bolt in part or is this piece more than one part? To me it looks like one piece that bolts on the verticle from behind the headlights and I think it bolts also to then front of the radiator support.

The photos with the black sprayed areas are the inner wheel well looking forward, the smooth black painted parts are the splash guards that bolt to the lower front valance, the upper area is the inner fender with the rubber splash guard which is missing on your car. Regarding the last picture with the missing parts on your car, that is part of the fender structure and is welded in and should be the horizontal piece connected to the vertical piece that has the cutout for the headlight wires and that part bolts up to where you are missing the bolts. Taking off your fenders may reveal just how much was cut away on your car.

Here is what the metal splash guards should look like in case yours were modified.

Also, if your fenders were cut, most likely there are no bumper inserts, you should have one on each side that look like this, and they sit just under the headlights.

Thank you very much for the info. In studying all of the photos sent in by everyone, it has become obvious that my cars former owner neatly cut the plate away. It isn't a big deal, I will fab something up to block it off on both sides. I just was hoping that there was something I could just bolt in from a bone yard but that ain't happenin! I don't know what class the former owner drag raced in, but I just can't fathom cutting less than 1 pound of sheet metal to shave a thousandth of a second off my time. By the way, your car is beautiful and looks cleaner than the dinner plates in my kitchen! Thanks again to all for your help. Perhaps I will ask again for help with my home lobotomy project!
