70 Road Runner with only the inside & driver side original mirrors. After several close mishaps with other drivers on the right side during my cat-like maneuvers, I've decided to install an original/matching mirror ( non remote ) on that side. Quality & appearance are important. BUT at $110. (eBay ) to $185. ( Year One ) I'm in sticker shock. ITS JUST A MIRROR !! Is there an alternative, or am I just being cheap ?
Any help or sarcastic comments are invited. Thanks, Rocket

I think auto-zone has mirrors.

Between my brother and I, we have been pricing stock type mirrors for awhile and they aren't cheap. I know it doesn't make sense, you either suck it up or find a cheaper alternative and deal with the results. Good Luck

Forget it, don't drill holes in your car. Hit the gas and complete the pass safely. My mirror pitted and is an over priced piece of ****.

Mirrors are good swap meet material. Used to find decent used ones on ebay, maybe the supply is drying up?

Try posting in the WTB, you never know who has what laying around gathering dust.

Mine too, spent what I thought was good money and in no time has rust on the screws and ball end where the mirror adjusts ... not too happy about it

Tell you what... I'll sell you a mirror cheap, if you'll see me your RR cheap. Seriously, modern mirrors compensate for many times poor passenger side visibility. The older vehicle's right side mirrors are nothing more than an "assistance", never rely on them solely. Therefore, other than having a matching appearance, as I've done, adding the mirror offers little benefit. I don't even use it. It's "look over your shoulder" all the time. Maybe lighten-up on the "cat-like maneuvers" ? :D

you can benefit from the repro mirror situation

many have bought them and are selling their used originals in grade "B" or less condition

this has actually caused an over supply of OEM mirrors at swap meets

my money says a grade B OEM mirror will stay in B condition much longer than a repro will stay in A condition

Depends on how much you use your car, and what climate conditions it's exposed to. I can't use a "B" on my cars, and replating and new glass is VERY expensive.

7 thousand miles a year. 20% humidity is high here. Still would not do it again. Pitted and very limited use. And, the wing window hits the goddam thing. I used the factory pilot holes. Two less holes, two less holes, two less holes...

And, the gasket bleeds to the paint. The original factory mirror is perfect. No pits, bleeding, or hazing of glass. As good as it was on May 28, 1969 when it was installed at Lynch Road by Ma Mopar. Replacement crap. If you fill in and touch up the 2 holes, I will give you the useless piece of crap.

I have one as part of the original build, but find that I rarely use it (admittedly somewhat because it requires a manual adjustment and never seems to be at the right angle no matter how long I take to set it up).

Compared to a modern car, my Coronet has much better visibility -- it just doesn't seem necessary. I'm either beside the other car, or I put my foot into it and then I'm not :)

OK. OK. Forget the passenger mirror. I'll take Yoga lessons instead.

Good decision. Keep us posted on spandex female observations. With pictures.

Do you REALLY want pictures of my 67 year old body in Spandex ? You'll need a wider monitor screen !

Thought it was clear. Start with the instructor if female. I will pile-on the mirror though.
First picture the pitted replacement installed 2015. The second the factory mirror installed by Ma on May 28, 1969 at the Lynch Road Plant. High quality clear and no pitting. It sat outside in the snow earlier in life. Replacement is garbage.

Gotta consider where **** is made these days.....
