I am starting to bring my old Satellite back to life. It was the first car I bought when I was 16, I am now 43. I parked the car in 95 and now I'm going to get going in the next month or two.
I am going from yellow to black.
I have a 440 I'm swapping in place of the old 225. I Have the k member & transmission.http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopar...0/180231-b82c442143614d798ba6b08e94760601.jpg
I have the leads to an 8-3/4 and I'm going with a 3:23 or 3:55.
I know I am upgrading the rear leaf springs and rebuilding the front end, but what is the difference in the front end between a non performance car and a hi-po car? Just the torsion bars and possibly sway bars?
I will be upgrading the brakes too, I'm not sure if I'm going stock hi-po or some new system.
The interior is green and I will be going red/ black combo. Does it work to paint plastic parts (prepped properly) with the year one type paint or dyes?
What did you all do (or wish you did) when tearing down for restoration? I'm going to take pictures as I disassemble and box components together.

I know it is a ton of questions, but I want to do this right. Thanks!!

Good luck, sounds like you already have a plan. The performance cars generally had bigger suspension pieces, and a sway-bar. Nothing trick, just bigger. I'd go with modern conversion brakes....front and rear.

Thanks for the reply. If I went with one of the "kit" rebuild kits for the front end, would that be good enough? I'm not going high dollar, but I'm not going to use junk.

Quality kit and a big aftermarket swaybar.

Beautiful satellite! You've got the right idea. I think the only differences are the front sway bar, torsion bars are larger, more leafs in back, etc. like you already know. You "might" have to change the transmission crossmember (?) since I think you've got a 904 trans. You can get conversion motor mounts so you don't have to swap K-members (think you can make that swap with mounts). You "might" have to open up your radiator core support to use a 26" radiator (you likely have a 22" hole). It should all bolt right up. Personally, I have had good luck re-spraying interior parts (like seats) though I did have one set of seats that cracked after 10-15 yrs. (white paint over a black seat that cracked along flex lines in the seat).

That's a cool story, glad you had her stored out of the weather. Looks to be a good project.

For painting the interior I have had good luck using a vinyl paint. Did my 62 and it covers and holds up like it was the original color.

Good front end kits available from PST and they offer a member discount. Go with rubber.
