Opinions On This Car - 1967 Coronet 440

I believe if this car runs and drives 5 grand is a good deal. You could probably always flip it for that, or more if it turns out to be a disastrous headache.

"In the video he was more interested in playing with the radio instead of showing the options on the car, but that is what some modern day owners think is important."
The CEO of Hyundai once said in a press release that if cars were new to the public today, they would be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show rather than having a separate car show venue.

That is probably true.

Since the '80s the cars have been so boring the only choice you get is what color you want, and now they have taken that away. Now you get a white, black, silver and maybe a blue of some kind. Pathetic.

66-67 B's are kinda my forte. I personally hate almost everything done to that car. It's like a JC Whitney mobile. Just my 2-cents. The cost of paint to fix it, would turn me away.

Check it out really well before you decide to buy it.
That stripe and the interior would have to go if I bought it!
Geez, the things some people do to their cars!

Never ceases to amaze me, to what lengths some people go to ruin an other wise beautiful car.

Mason, You've got to have thick skin when you ask for other people's opinions on a car. My two cents? For $5,000., I think that's a great buy. I'd take that sum and a magnet (bondo seeker) with me and unless there's unbelievable rust damage or something else major that you spot in your inspection, that baby would be coming home with me. You know what they say about pleasing all of the people... I hope it's all you hope it to be. Good luck.

Thanks. I am looking for a good strong magnet to take with me to go buy some cars.

I think it is a lot of car for the money but I am worried I will have to repaint the whole car to get rid of that rear stripe.

I am also not sure I would be able to hold my tongue when I was looking at it by asking the seller who put on that god awful stripe.

I once asked a guy that was selling a slant six engine that had been sitting on the ground for 2 years about the internals of the engine because it had been sitting, and he threw me out of the place.

He was offended I dared to question the engine he was selling.

Oh well, I guess it will be an adventure no matter what happens.

This car looks pretty decent. It will need a little tlc, but you don't get much for that price anymore.

People here in Mexico aren't willing to pay the big bucks for any car, so the deals are pretty good on these types of cars.

What do you guys think of this car?

No it does not have a Hemi in it.

I agree with coloradodave. If you do get it, drop a 5.7 Hemi under that hood, if not a different Hemi and let 'er roll! If those are 14" wheels, I'd probably switch them out for some 15" later on, not that important now.

As far as the nay-sayers go, to each his own. At least it's not another General lee look alike or a fake 'tribute' or 'clone' wannabe. The only thing important is that you are happy with it. Hope it's what you're looking for, if not, something else will come along! Good luck!

Unfortunately along with the 5.7 Hemi comes computers and a whole bunch of wiring and that is against my religion.

This is probably a Mexico-built car from new. The '66 & '67 Mexican B-bodies only had two engine options- a 225 and a 318. Period. The grille and tail panel are correct, and the 440 model was the sole model available. No R/T, no 500, no Deluxe. The speed should be a metric 200 km/h unit. Keep in mind that the Mexico-built car VINs do not align with the US and Canada-built Mopars at all, and are totally different. If I remember, they are only nine characters instead of 13.

There is a good write-up on Allpar.com but since they do not permit hyperlinks to them, you'll have to find that yourself.

I agree about ditching that awful stripe, hood blackout and the wheel/tire combo. If it's a good runner, with a solid body and the proper paperwork, five grand is a good price.

I will have to see about the VIN situation.

I have a Mexican built 1963 Savoy and it is the same series as the US cars which starts 213.

The US VIN sequence changed in the 1966 model year from the style you show to the 13-digit format used through 1980. The two Mexico cars I have seen are indeed different.
