One is 3 inches tall the other is 5. which one is the correct scoop?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

64 has a radius shaped back. 67 is straight. I used an over-sized 64-style on my 67 racecar, as it let me put a pin in the center/rear.

I believe the stock type scoop is the 3" tall, with a flat rear section to match the hood. The 5" is for the extra clearance if you are running a higher intake and carb set up. The newer Hemi Crossrams are actually taller where you need the extra height. Personally I prefer the lower for a more stock look on the street.

I have a NOS WO/RO scoop in my garage. I should take some measurements from it. The scoop in the above picture only had a 3/4" carb to scoop clearance. I try not to run any hood-scoop on a street-car.

If I were to buy one of those scoops I would buy the taller one so you can always have plenty of room to put a taller intake manifold on your motor or run a 2"spacer. Just my thought.

Thanks you all. Appreciate the replies

The scoop on the 67 Coronet is one of our best selling scoops and we call it the A/FX Scoop. We also have the original size scoop for the R/O--W/O cars. All of our scoops have a no stress mounting system with studs hanging down for easy installation. No pattern needed. We also have a center stud in the opening and we have a warranty against blow offs and cracking. We are Sled City Fiberglass.

i have a really clean and super nice 66 67 hood with a scoop on it already if anyone is interested..i ship to major airports all over the country

Dodge or Plymouth? Glass hood?

I think you have already gotten the info you need. But the OEM style scoop was about less than 1" at the back. I chose the AAR tall version because today's tall single plane manifolds are so much taller than the OEM Hemi manifolds. Check with AAR or Sled City. They both have great quality products that will look good.

here is the hood i have..the hood is incredibly clean..the scoop is a little crude in my opinion.. 250 plus 125 shipping to a major airport nearest you serviced by forward air...this is for the hood only..the secondary hook and the latch bar are not included, this is for the hood only

Thanks. I was hoping to have a spare for my 66 Belvedere to acid-dip. That's fair for someone looking for a Dodge hood.

Glass thanks for the reply. I will definitely plan on calling you all before I make a purchase.

The stock scoop was not very tall as the 3" scoop would be about the same as the stock scoop. Many places now make taller versions of the 66 & 67 Hemi scoop and the 63 & 64 Max Wedge scoop and the 64 & 65 Hemi scoops. And I believe some places even make a taller version of the 68 Hemi scoop. They do that so you can runn taller intakes and carb spacers if you like. Myself I like the looks of the original size scoops as thats why my Max Wedge scoop on my 63 is of original size. Ron
