Just doing Recon.... Since a 65 BELL is new territory for me, (used to 67 and up) should I have any concerns with Stock hood fitment, (no scoop) using a Mopar Performance single plane and a 7 ,or 850 Holley?
That is a pretty tall intake, no way it would fit on my 68 R/R. I just ordered a Eddy TM7, one of the shorter single planes other than the Holley street dominator. How much room do you have from the pad to the hood?Just doing Recon.... The motor, She's not in there yet. I'm hoping to learn from others findings. I had this setup in my 68 RR and it cleared with the right air cleaner base. Without an air cleaner I had no issues. How much difference between a 68 RR and a 65 Bell 2???? That's the question. That is a pretty tall intake, no way it would fit on my 68 R/R. I hear Ya, I did some compare at summits site. Some not all manifolds give a pad height in their description. My 68 has a 440 stock manifold with a 1in spacer and a 750 Holley, Just barely fits. Guess you were using a drop base? Hopefully the TM7 fits, will have to ditch the spacer and I have the drop base already. Hopefully someone else will chime in.The motor, She's not in there yet. Sorry It's a 440B or RB engine?
If you're still in the assembly stages, you could add spacers to the K-frame mounts to lower the engine. I haven't done this personally, but have heard of others doing it. There's also the drop-base air cleaner route. Good luck.Sorry It's a 440
Yes shimming is an option I really hope not to use. The oil pan steering issue is yet another hurdle. Amazing The little things... Love all the ingenuity! When we built our '63 N/SS car with a 426 MW combo, an old stock eliminator racer showed me how to oblong the bolt holes in the steering box to move it slightly towards the fender in order to clear the headers. It only buys you about .250", but it was enough to make a "go" out of a "no-go" situation. Good luck.
Not disagreeing with you, I've just never seen a cross ram car without holes in the hood.A cross ram fits, they're pretty tall.
Doug
There were plenty of factory max wedge carsNot disagreeing with you, I've just never seen a cross ram car without holes in the hood.
As a general rule steel front end cars did not come with scoops. Aluminum front cars came with scoops. We run a 64 Fury Convertible wit the factory intake carbs and air cleaners. Not disagreeing with you, I've just never seen a cross ram car without holes in the hood.
Back to the op's question, on my 64 Sport Fury i have a performer rpm with a double pumper. I'm maxed out with a drop base air cleaner. Maybe you can compare heights with your manifold. I was able to run a 1 inch spacer with a Torker2 I used to have on it.
Thanks for the response. I still have my drop base and I think the performer rpm is quite close in height to my M1. It should be Okay.
