I want to up grade the brakes on my belvedere , but I want to keep my 14 inch rims. Do manual disc brake kits have the same stopping power as power disc brakes. I see if I use a manual brake kit I can still use my 14 inch rims. Thanks for any advice.

I would think that the calipers are the same size with either power or manual.....?

I do believe calipers are the same. I have Right Stuff 4 wheel manual discs. They are at best "OK Brakes". I really can't tell the differences between these and the good ole 11" drums originally on my rr. Still have the 11's if you're interested .

The smaller 11in pin type calipers did not fit with my 14in aluminum Indy style slotted mags. With steel type Magnum-Road wheels they will, plain old steelies OK to. Go to a 12in rotor and you will have to upgrade to a 15in wheel. Just telling you what I have run across, your results may vary with wheel used.

I believe that you can keep your original rims as long as you get a disk brake kit that copies original Mopar parts using the original small rotors (10inch). I just bought my parts (front end only) from Dr Diff (haven't had them installed them yet), because, like you, I want to keep my original rims.

Based on my internet research, my understanding is that manual disks have the same stopping as power disks - the only difference being that power brakes require much less driver effort.

The brakes on my car have always sucked, so I'm going with power brakes.

When looking around the web for disk brake kits I recall coming across a kit available that allowed keeping the 14 inch wheels. Can't recall outfit off hand, but you should have that option...if I locate will let you know.

Talk to Cass at Dr. Diff, he'll set ya strait .He sent me a complete manual disc brake conversion kit with coated, drilled, slotted rotors fit my stock 14x7 magnum 500's on my 67 gtx

Hey Mopower, how do you like your manual disks? What were some of the things you learned/discovered/struggled with about the swap? Did you use a metering valve? - Thanks!
