Hello,
The car is a 69 roadrunner. Trying to trouble shoot the reason for the voltmeter reading jumping from 8+ volts to 14+ volts when read at alternator and battery when car is running. I have replaced the alternator and have also replaced the V.R. with the stock style one. Prior to replacement both, the readings as described above were from 2+ to 8+ volts ( the V.R. then was a solid state replacement version).
Sorry, but I'm an Oldsmobile man ......... This is my Son's Monster . I'm just his backyard mechanic. My experience tells me the volt meter reading should be consistently reading 14+ when running. Would appreciate your input.
