I am going to install a new gasket & reinstall the back window. This weekend if weather holds out. I've never done this. Watched it done. I want to try it myself. I looked on YouTube for a help video & didn't see anything. So anyone have tips or link to a good video. This car has the stainless moldings. Does not have the lock strip

That's like a "regular" galss.

MUCH easier than the front.

Any generic install guide should help.

Watch out for Mathew.

By regular glass do you mean I don't need to use the rope to pull the gasket through ? And who is Mathew ?

yes.

It just lays on a bead of glass sealer much like ford and gm....and later Mopar.

I've not done one, though.

Matthew the hurricane.

OK, now you've got me questioning my memory.....

You're right.

Sorry.

I finally got time to work on the Belvedere today. I sanded the glass channel & looked it over good. I then primed it with Dupli Color rattle can Epoxy Primer 3 coats. Allowed 1 1/2 hour to dry then I top coated the Chanel with the Dupli Color pre mix paint. 3 coats also. Allowed 1 hour to dry then installed new molding clips. Looks good. Now to install the glass.

The 3 coats of paint. I'm on a budget & wanted to use this Pre Mix Dupli Color paint. No thinning or reducing required. I wanted a color similar, but lighter than the original Burnt Oranged. Also with a fair amount of metallic. This paint has the proper amount of metallic I was looking for, but is a bit too light & too gold to blend in with the painted interior & door jams. So I'll have to do a darn color change. The paint laid down good

Here is a pic from a distance & you can see the difference in the color

This is what I used. If your on a budget like me this looks like the way to go. $5.00 for sand paper. Started with 280 then 500 & finished with 2000. 1 can of the Dupli Color Epoxy primer $6.00 and 1quart of the Dupli Color pre mixed paint $24.00 I had a gift card from Harbor Freight tools for $50 so I went to their store in town & bought a paint gun kit. It came with two gravity feed guns & cleaning tools. So I have less than $100 bucks in this & still have plenty of paint left.

Just my 2cents, but you will want to paint the car before installing the glass.
When you do the glass , make sure the gasket and glass are nice and warm, fit the gasket onto the glass. use a nylon rope aprox 1/4" dia that is 12" longer than the dia. of the gasket once the gasket it on the glass install the rope with both ends meeting at the top center, the excess rope should hang into the car and over lap a few inchs.
once you set the glass / gasket bottom over the bottom body lip. { some guys like to run a small bead urethane around the outer steel lip for insurance of a leak free install before setting the glass}. We have done them both ways. you will need a extra set of hands , make sure the bottom is seated all the way across, use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray the he// out of the steel and gasket,

while your buddy puts some pressure on the glass were you work from inside slowly pull one of the ropes pulling the inner gasket lip inside, once you go aprox 6 inchs work the other side. just rotate back and forth side to side,

once you come to the corner it will at times get tuff to get that lip in, keep it wet and if you have to help the gasket pop in use something plastic like a trim removal tool { no metal }. Just keep it wet and have some outside pressure on it, make sure you start off centered and the bottom is set flush and it should pull right in.

Thanks for the tip. The two guys I have helping & I have done a few windshield & back glasses. The only thing I'm worried about is the temperature. 55 tomorrow. Never done one in that temp. I'm going to have a hair dryer handy just in case. As for the paint. Not in the budget or time frame right now. Just want to get the car on the road. I may leave the moldings off. I can't paint right up to the edge of the gasket. The mounding will hide the blend line. I need to replace the front glass too. I don't want to do that until I can get the car in my shop because I need to pull the dash & install a new wiring harness & paint the dash frame. Again thanks for the tips.

The rear glass is in. Took two tries. First time i had the rope snag in the corner. I tried to pull it past the snag & it broke the rope. Sooo took the glass back out since I had only gone about 2 feet. Installed new rope & tried again. Samething , but this time I knew what was snagging it & just easily worked the rope around the snag. Second try was a success. Next will be a bad power steering hose leak. Looks like the return hose. It's making a mess so need to get to that. Stay tuned
