Let's talk crate Hemis

Sounds like you guys have had great success with yours they must have never been where mine came from

Let me clarify that I did not build a crate! Had heads and a 4.5 stroke crank. The oil system came off my wedge as well as the roller lifters and gear drive.bought a new block.Everything else was NEW.

Mine is sitting pretty in the coop. Never been started yet. Not really a crate motor, it was built by Mopar Vaughn for a friend. I bought it from him. But I can tell you this, there is only one person going to start that thing the first time, (should he still be alive) And that's some guy out in Challis, Montana or Idaho, can't remember which right now. But I think his name is Jim or Cody or something like that.
He still lives as of this morning KENTON, he still lives. As does his son Cody.

The last one we have is a 472 that a shop in Las Cruses New Mexico built.(Now out of business) .It had valve train noise after firing.Hydraulic cam, MP block.Changed lifters twice, same problem ?? found out later the lifter bore is different than factory blocks and wedge blocks.Could not use the big block lifters because of where the oil hole was.Was told to use Small block lifters because they have the oil hole in a different location.Solved the problem.I know it doesn't sound right but it worked.

I want to put a 472 crate Hemi in this 68 Charger I am working on. When I go on line to look for info there is plenty of information about the bad parts and poor quality of the engines from 10 years ago. Supposedly a place in Kentucky is now making them for Mopar Performance. Has anyone bought one in the last 3 years and how does it run? The part number is p5249666AE. Monicatti -K & S Performance seems to have the best price. Thanks in advance for any info.

Kevin is an old friend from the 70's. He busts his tail to give the best prices on mopar stuff. I would still go thru any mopar crate-engine. The percentages of it being "perfect"...are against you. It's usually dumb crap that's wrong with them.
