I have a 65 belvedere that was painted when I bought it. The VIN tag on the door jam was attached with 2 chrome shoulder screws. When I took it to the DMV, they didn't like the screws. I had to remove the rear package tray so they could check the numbers stamped there so they could be sure my car wasn't stolen. Does anyone have a photo of the VIN attached to the door jam with rivets and does anyone know where I could get the correct rivets to attach it like it came from the factory? Thanks.

The VIN tag on my 65 Belvedere was punched through the door jam with the metal that was pushed through the holes retaining the tag. Not very secure as my body guy popped it off while primering and gave it to me.

No rivets or screws on my 64 either. If you zoom in you can see.

Mine looks like spot welded, for lack of better description.

My 65 Belvedere I is the same. I got the tag back from the body guy in an envelope.

Here's a pick of the VIN tag on my original 65 Belvedere I. There isn't anything in the two holes. There are corresponding holes in the door jamb, but they appear to only have been used for alignment. My plate and the holes don't appear to be lined up. It isn't apparent in the photo, but it feels like there are two spot weld places adjacent to and just to the inside of the holes in the plate.
