Hi everyone first build getting ready to fire up my 440 using stock hp manifolds 2.5 h pipe narrowed the choice down between 2 mufflers both dynomax the super turbo or the ultra flo love the sound of the ultra flo but was concerned if there may be too much drone in the pass compartment would still like to hear some tunes once in a while thanks

I dumped my super turbos for a set of ultra flo's, never looked back. Super turbos were restrictive and quiet ...

A well designed exhaust system and mufflers...can be very quiet and efficient. My 850hp WO-car, is quieter at the bumper[custom fabbed]....than my 600hp hemi-roadrunner[TTI system]. Both have full systems....and the roadrunner doesn't even have headers.

I installed a set of Ultraflows to replace the Flowmasters that the prior owner had recently installed. The Flowmasters droned so much I had to wear earplugs to drive it. The Ultraflows still drone some, but it's tolerable. They are plenty loud, but I'd like to reduce the drone.

It seems, every time this topic comes up, Dynomax comes out on top. Use an H pipe and these, no drone. Good sound.

I haven't pulled the trigger on which mufflers yet but I think I'm going with them.

Flowmaster are for mustangs...

I went with the "X" pipe when the 4 inch system was fabricated by Jimi Vignogna. No drone and we can have a conversation at 60 MPH.You can hear my diff whine and I hate WHINING,,,,,,,,,LOL

Dude your car is awesome, diff whine and all !! Loved it since day 1 on this site

I've always liked Flowmasters but the drone gets old for a cruiser. I'm now running an X pipe with stainless straight threw mufflers.... some cheap Ebay mufflers that advertised in a way that made me think I was getting Dynomax but they look and sound great.

I really like the way the x pipe made my heap sound.Tailpipes out the back bumper. Was having a hard time getting into record mode with the Racepak,,,,,,,almost got rearended,,then all he saw was taillights,,LOL

an H pipe will help with the drone from many performance mufflers. Years ago I had a 1970 383 Challenger 4 speed, 2/1/2 inch exhaust with Flowmasters, big time DRONE while cruising, installed an H pipe and the drone almost went a way. I could now talk to the person in the passenger seat. It now had a SWEET SOUND while going through the gears and the drone was not a problem.

Has anyone tried the "Classic Chambered Exhaust" yet?
Mike

Has anyone tried the Flowmaster series 10 mufflers? Right now my 440 has glasspacks, and I want something louder. My last GTX had Flowmaster series 40 and they were just ok. Thanks for any information, Rod

10s are just short of open headders IMHO. But hey go for it and report back. Is this a street driven X ??

Yes, it's street driven. I'd hate to put the money into the exhaust system, and then have the police tell me it's to loud, but I'm willing to take the chance!!

As long as the police allow Harleys to run straight pipes we all have a defense!
Mike

Although mine is not together i have all the pieces, dougs 2"x3 1/2" with Spintechs and xpipe....love the sound. This is what im expecting....
