Rebuilt 225 / Has very low oil pressure. Runs fine and plenty of power.
Factory gauge on the interment cluster goes up to 80 psi. Barely gets off of the low line.
It's a A100 van.
All new parts including oil pump.
Any suggestions.

Do you have a new sending unit on the engine? I've always installed mechanical oil gauges on my stuff....it doesn't lie.

It's mechanical. No sending unit.

You might swap out the pressure relief spring in the pump and see if that changes things. New pump, right? Do you still have the old one? If so, see if they both have the same tension....

I've had bad mechanical gauges as well. How does it sound? OK? Try another gauge. How long has it been rebuilt? Recently? Internal plug missing?

Should have tossed it in a ditch and dropped a 360 in there
225s are reliable and smooth running. If I were to swap motors, I would put a 318 in it before I would a 360. Just my preference.

Any left over parts laying around? Oil present in the coolant or coolant in the oil? New parts are not a guarantee everything is ok.

I swapped a 225 for a 318 in my duster, and to my surprise, not only was it more reliable but I got better gas mileage with plenty of power. Just a thought.....

Another vote for trying another gauge temporarily to verify the stock one is telling the truth. No sense in worrying about a problem that might not actually exist.
Been there, done that just recently.

I apologize but I'm confused. The factory gage reads 80psi, ir it reads very low? What does the mechanical gage read at idle (hot)? What does it read at 3Krpm?

Gauge goes to 80psi.
it reads low at idle and high rpm's

Like Cranky says...probably need to look at the oil pump pressure relief spring. Sounds like it's not seating.

Okay! then.
I'm going to take it out today, it's going to be in the 40's.
I'll have time this weekend to do some of the testing you guy's have suggested.
Thank You
Steve
