What's up with the AMD '70 Road Runner air grabber hood with hood pin cut-outs? I see the no-pin version still on the AMD site. Is it discontinued? Anybody still have one? I know I could cut my own holes, but it'd be easier.

The other air grabber hood is also out of stock as well. I know that on some items that have been on back order, that they do not have an exact date that they will be manufactured or shipped. Then once they are ready for shipping, it takes another six weeks or so before they are back to be placed on the shelf again. Hopefully it has not been discontinued, but who knows. Like I tell people, it is better to go ahead and purchase items like this as once the demand declines, there is a point that another production run is not worth the investment. I would just drop them a call. They are very good with letting us know the status of parts.

I have had one on BO since November. Now there is a guy selling them on eBay for $1750.00 showing 3 available now. I guess I will be doing the best with the original on car.

Have you spoke to them concerning an ETA. They have a listing of each part number and the status, and it is for the most part pretty close. Do you happen to know who is the E-Bay seller?

Basic principle of supply and demand......

I was just going to try to save some body shop time. At the rate the shop charges it will allow 40 hours labor which will no doubt produce a superior result using the original hood. The top surface of hood isn't an issue, but someone at one time couldn't get the hood hinge bolts out, so they took a torch and cut through the under support to access the rusted nuts. As Homer would say....."D'oh"

No replacement for original metal........I have seen hoods torched like that and it blows my mind what people did.....

At one time I had 3 of these hoods complete with grabbers. All 3 were excellent unmolested parts.....wish I held onto them but at the time I got top pricing......

I am almost thinking maybe I should just find the under bracing off of a Satellite or another B body and graft it in. The guy who did the metal work on my Mustang is an artist. Just a thought.

I would agree with that.....

Yep, Find another hood and use what you need to fix yours. I had to use the front 6" of the bracing from a donor hood to repair my AG hood. Can't even tell where the graft is.

I guess I will have to call AMD. I have an original on my car, but I tweaked the pass. front corner in an accident. I got it basically back in shape, but it will take many more hours to make it top-notch. I was just hoping to save some time/effort since I'm starting to look at finishing my body work.

I had at least considered the idea of grafting in the corner of another hood, but it just doesn't look easy/cheap and maybe not possible.... I could be wrong.

The 70 Road Runner air grabber hoods have just arrived on the warehouse floor over at AMD and should be back available by this late afternoon. They have 50 of them available. As for as the same hood with the hood pin holes already drilled, they have decided to drop that piece from their inventory. Thanks for everyone's inquires.
