Best place to send '71 dash cluster for restoration. Not going to be a show car just need it cleaned and checked. Thanks POPS

Just got mine back from Auto instruments. I'm happy with what they did. What ever your plans are with what you need done, it will take time to do because everyone will be busy this time of year and will be spendy. Just have to call around to say what you need and those places will more than likely want you to send your cluster in to do an accurate estimate. Hope this helps, pops

I did mine myself, cleaned and polished the plastic lenses, repainted the gauge needles, installed a new gauge cluster gasket kit, painted the bezel and heater switch edging with new silver paint. Also fixed the red lense for the high beams, cleaned the gauges, and lubed where necessary. Total cost was less than 30 bucks.

Not sure what all they do but my dad just had his dash bezel done. GCAR did it. Go on there website & it tells you pricing & breaks it down for you. They did a really nice job

I also did mine myself and it was inexpensive (minus buying the clock gauge cluster & tach). I did not go into the greatest of detail on my thread but I can try and help you as best I can. It's honestly not very hard, just tedious and somewhat time consuming. I was really happy with how mine turned out. Not show but I think it's a super nice driver quality.

Did any of you do anything with the "wood" bezel? I mean clean/polish/anything? I need to go over mine at some point prior to installation but ALL of the above replies look good!

When I repainted the silver trim for the first time several year ago, I took a wash clothe & used baby oil on the wood bezel after I was done with every thing. I didn't use a thick coat but enough for it to soak in and give it a sheen. It spread nice and evenly and it did not splotch up between the time I did it 3 years ago and when I did it again this fall (but it was not outside). My thought was that it would keep it from having that dried out look. The only reason I re did it was that I wanted a chromier look than the paint pen. Still not what I want but I am not going through that process again! I am not sure if what I did is bad on the plastic or not but I have two so if I end up messing this one up, it wont be the end of the world.

Great job on your dashs......Mine was also done at home..My problem is figuring out why my dash light stays on all the time now....looking into it..
