Going from power to manual brakes

I have a 66 Coronet 500 with power drum brakes. Summit has a 4 wheel disc brake kit with a manual master cylinder (you can get power also) for under 900. My brake system now needs everything replaced. 2 questions will the manual master just bolt up to the firewall, and do you think manual single piston discs will stop ok?

You will need an adapter plate for the firewall, and you will need to do away with the fulcrum linkage on the brake pedal. Personally, I would stick with power. A booster isn't much more $ and the time involved with the minor details will exceed the cost.
I recently did the opposite, went from manual to power. The devil is in the details. Changing the front hubs and installing discs is relatively easy. It's the hoses and little stuff that makes you want to pull your hair out.
My personal advice is to get a kit that includes a booster. You won't have to mess with the pedals or locating/installing an adapter plate for the firewall. If you choose to stay with converting to manual there are plenty of people here to sell you the adapter plate.

If your set on 4 wheel disc I agree with BeeKool go the extra $250 or so.
 
Why go to 4 wheel disc's? 80/90% braking power is on the front brakes. If you bought a front disc kit 11.75"rotors a disc drum master cylinder and an adjustable proportioning valve 11.75 rotors need 15" wheels. Then rebuild rears, didn't run the cost but it's something to think about.
Look up thread "Help disk brake options" greenmachine started it. I put pictures of my front brake conversion, from Mopar Action with 11.75 inch rotors. I'd buy a kit now, in 2001 there weren't many kits.

Stick with power, especially if the car came with power originally
 
Well after reading the advice here and looking at a bunch of disc brake kits, and checking finances, I think a good way to go is a basic front disc brake kit, about 400, then a stock style 67 dual master cylinder, keep the power brakes. My single M/C just goes in a simple distribution block, and I'm assuming the dual M/C will need a different distribution/pro portioning block/valve and some brake line mods? Shouldn't be too much work, or money. What do you think?
 
The master cylinder the fittings are not normal size. I f you buy adapter fitting I bought a pair and they bottomed out before seating. Be careful if you go this route. I'd buy a distribution block from a 67 to 69 car with fittings. Ehrenberg sells fittings Ebay $18.88 under mopar brakes search. I used a after market adjustable brake prop valve.
