I have and issue with the seats I took them out to see why the drivers back part of the seat leans back farther than the passenger side. The only thing I can see is maybe the latch is worn out and has slop in it .I tried shimming the spring stop and it didnt change a thing.

If you take the cover off I think you will find its broken and probably need a couple of tack welds

Yep, most likely one of the sides' attachment points has broken and needs to be welded or replaced.

My 73 SE drivers seat also had split the inner frame about 20 years ago. A little weld and is still good today. No more leaning back

The best favor you can do for yourself is get a Harbor Freight coupon and go buy yourself one of their 110V wire welder sets. With a coupon they're about $100, and you'll be amazed how handy that thing can be. Watch a couple of youtube videos and you're taking care of most of your welding issues yourself.

I used to work on my friend's sprint car he has every thing I need to do it at his house. He's a fabricator I'm just a machinist i'll Iet him weld he's way better than me lol. I'll stick to lathes and mills and cnc's.

Damn. That's a heck of a crack...can't remember ever seeing that in a seat frame before (I have/had at least 6 sets of 70's B/E seat frames).
Both sides were cracked big time and on the bottom left corner also.
