From the great Las Vegas

Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'm a native from Las Vegas, mother was born and raised here and great grandfather owned the first gas station in Boulder City (where the hoover dam is located).

Currently starting my search for a classic car to enjoy with my family. I'm 27 with 2 kids and a beautiful wife who supports my crazy addiction to cars. I've owned 13 in the past 5 years as different daily drivers and built 4 others in the garage... Most have been German vehicles, besides my 2 Rubicons.

Wish I could find a 1970 Superbird but unfortunately those are hard to find and more expensive to purchase. So I have turned my focus to finding a Road Runner, Charger, Challenger or possibly a GTO. The wife actually wants a Mustang but unfortunately for her I have never been a fan of them and fortunately for me I purchase the cars :)

I'm here to learn as much about the cars as I can and any info on where to possibly find a clean one would be appreciated. I would like to not buy one that needs a full restoration, something that I could buy and enjoy right away with only needing little things. Between school, dental applications, work full time and the family I don't have time to do a full restoration in my garage at the moment. Even though that is the goal one day.

Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the forum!
We love Las Vegas
I need to get there soon do deliver a pkg to someone in Henderson
Yummy, a GTO
Shhh, they frown upon that kind of talk here in MOPAR land
But hey, do not sell yourself short...
The GTX is a much higher optioned car over the Roadrunner....

GTX=awesomesauce

GTO= Pontiac. We all know what that stands for.......

I dont know what Pontiac stands for lol.

I do realize gto is frowned upon in here, we all know opinions are like ******** though. Everyone has one :) haha. Sorry not to offend anyone.

IF it's a 440 you want. Ithe would be easiest to get a GTX, R/T Coronet or R/T Charger. Unless you want a 440+6, they may cost 80 to 100k for an authentic one though

I'm looking at spending 20-30k. I think that should net me a pretty nice non matching numbers car.

Like I said I'm open to other cars as well. The cuda is nice, etc.

I have been looking through the build threads on hemi's and people are building pretty bad *** 440's for about 7k?

Would love more info on this? The gtx vs the roadrunner and the options? It isn't the same body style?

I'd tell you what it stands for but it may offend a few.
It's an old school moniker. If you have a father or uncle who was a "good 'old boy" perhaps they could tell you. Or try to Google it.

That will get you a Satellite, or possible a Roadrunner, maybe a Super Bee if you are lucky. Assuming your looking for a 68-70.

Yes ive been finding most people are looking for 30-40k for a fully restored car, at least the types I'm looking at..

There is a cornet 440 superbee for sale for 27k right now. Couple of satellites, chargers, lots of dusters, dart's, and a cuda. I like the 67 dart a lot.

What is the satellite road runner clone?

A Roadrunner was basically a Satellite w different trim and higher performance powertrain. You can have a Roadrunner "clone" if you start with a Satellite and change some things.
You can do the same with a Coronet to make a Super Bee or R/T Coronet. In the mopar world I prefer to use the term "tribute".

If I recall, I saw a fellow member had his roadrunner for sale in the past week or so. It looked like a nice car and I think he was asking about 28k. It wasnt a tribute.

BEE careful,,This site is habit forming...........

There is a big car show this weekend in Mesquite through Sunday and another, smaller one, in Laughlin.

I know I was going to go to the one in meaquite but our friends have their daughters first birthday party so I cannot sneak away.

I went and checked out a 69 dart today, it was so nice. But unfortunately it was a track car. The motor was amazing, everything was perfect except it had a full cage with no rear seats which doesn't work for the family.

So the search continues. My wife is trying to convince me to get a new charger/challenger scat pack. For heated seats haha.

If my wife told me to go buy a new car,,I'd be at the dealership before the last word she spoke !!!! Hell Yeah HELLCAT !!

Hellcat is sweet, but a 60k price tag. Id be ok with the scat pack 392.
