Disassembling Steering Column

That looks awesome! The attention to detail is impressive and you matched the colors and finishes very well. I too am working on dash/ interior components and used a tip from this forum for replicating finishes and colors. The SEM #39853 Texture Coating black works great and on top and I sprayed a light coat of Krylon MAXX ultra clear acrylic in a satin finish for the durable finish. The ashtray was rusted on interior surface of the galvanized interior and door has rust starting too. So I bead blasted the ash tray and door after I had drilled the rivets out to take the two metal components apart. Sprayed the astray part with VHT 1300-2000 degree Cast iron finish and the door front and back with the SEM concoction above. Rivet them back together and a final coat of the SEM (had to coat the aluminum rivets) and Krylon satin and it looks great. Didn't mean to hi jack the thread, just throwing that info out there.

So my interior was very very good. I only 1000 gritted out a few flaws, hit it with a scotch brite and used SEM Satin black over the original textures paint which matched very nice.

Thanks Jim for the feedback. Maybe it was just me but after I let it dry very well, my fingernail left a mark in the surface after lightly scratching across it. I put the Krylon on to "seal " it so that wouldn't keep happening with contact from my hands/finger nails. I just may be too ****!

I have to say I have not performed a lifetime stress test on it yet.
