Engine Testing Station

I have the summit stand and have the six barrel motor on it but I haven't plumbed in a radiator, gauges or fuel pump as of yet.

Pretty good run stand but my cherry picker has low wheels and slips right under some folks don't and I see in the reviews some made blocks to raise the stand wheels.

I also had to drill holes to run a big block manual bellhousing (440) and run McLeod flywheel with removable weight for forged and cast crank motors.

I'll post some pics when im back at the shop on Thursday

Yes, I already had most of the stuff laying around. I built from a factory k frame.

I seen some pretty impressive run stands over the years. I bought a 70 GTX front clip off a guy that had an awesome one he built, it had the radiator and fuel tank mounted outside with valves and drains and pumps, just a couple 1.5" hoses for coolant and and for fuel he had an aeromotive pump with 2 regulators and all kinds of valves, he had one for fi and one for carbs with a 5" pressure gauge, so he could pick which regulator and dial in the psi.
He had all the other basic stuff, MSD 6, autometer gauges, AF sniffer, the exhaust was piped outside with flex tubing, he even had an ansul system above it!! He said he got it from a restaurant that closed, so if he pulled the cord it would release a fire extignuisher tank right on the engine and kill all the fuel and power!!!

He had a heavy duty jump pack that he hooked to 2 copper posts (I asked why no battery mounted on it and he said the batteries would die after a while of not getting used and its easier to use jump pack, made sense to me).

When i asked what he did for a living because the house was huge and nice the garage was insane, he said he was a mechanical engineer for a performance nautical craft company, lol.. SO he made race boats, pretty cool guy, gave me a complete 69 gtx nose with grille, air grabber, hood, fenders, bumper, brackets, bolts, all in real nice shape no rot at all for $2500 and said I could have the doors if I wanted them and they would fit on the truck, I would have put them doors in the passenger seat and came back for my wife, lol... THEY FIT...

I sadly dont have an engine run stand, and so far (fingers crossed) my motors all start with little fuss (knock on wood), most are dyno tuned before I pick them up, so any oil leaks, running issues, timing, tuning, is all done at the machine shop. The ones i put together myself, I take my chances..

I wonder if I started them up on the k frame stand if it would be safe and not flip over... Wouldnt be hard to do, put a radiator and fan on there with some zip ties, hook up the ignition, a bell, and starter.. Ehhh I'll just start it when its in the car... I dont want to install it twice if I only have to do it once.. Its only 4 bolts to put the k frame in...

I've been using a 1980 D150 step-side :)
