Sebring vs Roadrunner Huge Value Difference!

So about my 73 RL21 base Satellite.....

Super clean body but had a repaint and was filthy under the hood.

It will end up with:

Buckets/buddy seat (done)
White/green int (instead of green/green) (done)
Rallye mirrors (done)
Rallye cluster
8 3/4 SG
Power windows
Roll down rear windows
4 barrel
833 O/D with bench seat pistol grip
RR hood
Machine gun tips

It will NOT get RR badges, but may get a hood bulge stripe if I can find one in F6 green.

This post hits home in some ways and is so off base in others. NADA values are useless for one, 440-6 comparison is bogus and then the term restoration is thrown around when your looking at cars that aren't "restored" they are modified/clones.
I own a 72 Satellite Sebring Plus 400 "P code" that I'm sure would fit all your needs but you'd have to pay for it. Is a Road Runner worth more on paper? Absolutely but you have to fall for a car not an emblem IMHO. Good Luck in your search

Absolutely beautiful car here, nicely done!!

I'm a little on the fence in regards to re-badging, cloning, tribute cars, etc. I love a nice survivor or well restored Road Runner, Super Bee, GTX as much as the next guy, but let's face it, even with the down turn in pricing some of these cars are just out of a lot of guy's price range. A nicely done Satellite that has been re-badged correctly can be had relatively affordably and can make a really nice driver. I purchased the car below at a very affordable price, and while not a true GTX, it's very close. Rallye dash, 8 3/4, 727, Air Grabber hood, etc., with a 440 in the works. The car has completely new wiring harnesses throughout, new upholstery, new carpets, every brake line or hose is new, etc. etc. A true GTX this nicely done would have been waaaayyyy out of my price range, but this car fills the gap nicely. I drive the car weekly, that's what I bought it for. I would never try to pass the car off as a GTX to anyone, I have no problem with telling anyone that it's a Satellite, almost everyone except the most die hard purists are very complimentary of the car. I guess the decision is ultimately up to the purchaser and what he intends to do with the car.

when i searched for my 71 b project
i had this criteria in my search
it had to be a rm or rs car
it had to have a 4 spd
it had to have a fender tag
anything more then that was a bonus...
that way i knew that i had some intrinsic value before diving in

How about an RT or 500? :realcrazy:

Are they not Chargers?

Good looking car.

Again see my previous post about rationalizing.

I'm sorry I can't afford a lot of things. That means I don't get one. I can't afford a 54 Strat. I can do a lot of things to make a guitar look like one but it will never be one.

The only reason to rebadge a car is to make someone believe it is something it is not. If one is totally honest about rebadging, you WANT people to think is it something it is not.

Upgrading performance was always cool. Rebadging a car was never cool.

I've seen way more true "whatever's" in recent years than I did in the 70's and 80's. Back then everyone tagged lower grade cars with performance decals / tags when repainting or building engines.(GM guys especially) Half the fun is looking these cars over and decideing if they are correct or original. That said, true RM's and RS's will always get way higher values.
My '71 SSP is tagged as is, no birds,no roadrunner stripe (which was common with repaints). It does have a 383 call-out hood on it, which is probably not correct, but looks great and the 383 is what came in the car. My SSP new cost $150 more than RM and has 275 hp, same hp as 340 RM. I paid 7000 for it running and ready for DMV inspection, you would'nt get that kind of price on a RM.

NADA values are a joke......these cars are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

first thing I look at is the vin , u means 440 4bbl .
0 confusion everything else doesn't mater the vin has spoken , just some sticker fiend got carried away that's all
