Looking to coat my cast-iron parts with something to deter rust, but natural looking. Don't want to paint or powder-coat.

About Calyx Manifold Coating 3 oz
Though it's not as durable as our paint on coatings, it is convenient and easy to apply because there's no disassembly required. Just remove loose rust and rub-in thoroughly. Non-toxic and water-soluble. A little goes a long way: one container treats 8-10 typical V8 exhaust manifolds. Made in USA.

Application
For the best results, manifold should be removed, abrasive-blasted, and wiped down with PRE Painting Prep (10041Z) before applying. If you wish to apply Calyx while the manifolds remain installed on the engine, use a wire brush to remove surface rust and dirt, then wipe down with PRE. Apply Calyx with a rag or toothbrush, and work it into the pores of the metal. For a buffed appearance, use a fingernail brush.

I use high temp satin clear from vht. Holds up decent if the surface is clean and prepped.

I've been told that liquid graphite is great for exhaust manifolds. Sold at Napa stores.

Ive used this stuff and it works pretty good. It leaves a wax film on the pieces, it changes the color just a tad but it does work at keeping the parts looking good.

Not sure if they still carry it, but Eastwood Co. used to sell a product they called Heavy-Duty Anti Rust #2712 for protecting bare metal. It's a spray on type product. Kind of like Cosmoline. Might be something to consider.

I used Dry Graphite Lube from CRC on the manifolds on my '57. It's held up fairly well, but the car was stored in a damp garage last winter and a few rust specks were showing through.

Nice thing about it is it's easy to touch up and doesn't burn off or discolor.

Thats the stuff I have used and I like it, just heat the metal up and brush this stuff on, and it flows like a wax

Ive heard of boeshield, but now that I read how the product works it sounds like a liquid form of the rpm paste. Id be interested in hearing how it works / lasts

Check out Penetrol, it is linseed based and does not get hard or chip.
