My car has NO torque boxes, I knew that when I bought it, I was under the belief that only hemi cars came with them in the rear (convertibles front and back) in the b-bodies, a gentleman that came to my house today to look at a tranny I have for sale seen my car up on the lift, we go to talking and he said he is positive 70' v code b bodies had torque boxes, he said it was the first year for 6 pack cars to get them..

Is this accurate, if so we have an issue because my car does not have them, but my rad number door number fender tag, etc etc etc are all correct..

No torque boxes on B-body 6 pk cars,Hemi and convert only.

Well, that's good to know because my '70 V-code, four speed, Super Trac Pack Charger didn't come with torque boxes and I've had a few people through the years tell me that being a Six Pack car it should have them.

Thanks guys, I thought that was the case, but the guy knows (or maybe he thinks he does) mopars, he came in a 426 road runner today, he is interested in a tranny I have, but I think he was more interested in telling me my car was wrong and giving me an insulting offer on the tranny.
Tip for people trying to get a deal on something, DO NOT pull up to look at said part in a $140K car wearing $400 sun glasses and a $9500 watch, then offer half of what I told him on the phone and admit it looks better than I described it...

i know the E body V codes had them for sure. my dad use to work on a 70 rt/se v code charger quite a bit that was his buddys. i'm pretty sure it had the boxes. i'd have to ask my dad for sure, but i remember being a kid and him pointing out all the things that made that car special, and the boxes and skid plate stick out as a few of the things he pointed out.

I've heard people say they should have them too, well mine doesn't have them and its an original track pack car that I have owned for over 35 years so they are wrong.

My 70 V-code does not have them either

I have a 72 U code that can from the factory with them and this has been discussed here before with no conclusion found. So if you got them, you got them.

I know I've seen them on e-body & 71-later b-body, don't think so on 70.

Mine has the skid piece on the K-frame to protect the six pack pan but no torque boxes. The plants back than must have been quite the place to work. Would like to have a time machine and be able to go back and just hang out, watch and listen.

My '70 V code 'Cuda had the torque boxes and skid plate. Know a gentleman that has a '70 GTX, skid plate only.

I have a 70 V GTX 4 speed that doesn't have them. A01 build date. Could it be the build date or plant specific?

You can annoy lots of people as long as you get them laughing occasionally.
Torque boxes were for convertibles and HEMI cars only.

It's still a good topic. If someone hadn't brought up this older thread, I wouldn't have known about the 70 B cars not having them. Had several E cars with one being a U code but not very many B's and most of them were pre 70 models. And what about the A bodies? IIRC, a buddy had a 69 340 car that had them but that was over 25 years ago and the old brain ain't what it used to be..... :(

I have a 65 Valiant convertible that has them.

Maybe before and during 70 if I can get some pic of the 72 I will let you decide how they got there. Nobody else has figured out what got them or the designation on the build sheet yet.
