Death Of The HEMI

As always, all good things must come to an end. :( Oh well, we have had a few years with the opportunity to, in a sense, relive the fun times of the past. Thank you Chrysler for resurrecting the Hemi. I know I enjoyed mine, and will likely be enjoying them for some time to come.

Extra happy now that I got one this time around.
Even if I had to wait since 1982.

Tired of the government meddling in our lives. Other countries pollute terribly and we are bending over backwards (or just plain bending over) to reduce every little bit...

Ifs, ands, and buts......fake news? Sales pitch?

Quick google search revealed no allpar documents stating a cancellation of the hemi. Only link that popped up that said anything about the hemi cancellation was the video's site.
Hoax? Likely...
I wouldn't think that FCA would dump truckloads of money on engineers, advertisements and tooling for the Demon if they knew the power plant was slated for cancellation in a few short years. But hey, I've been wrong before

Judging from the picture of the pistons about half way through the video, it is a "Hemi" in name only. Those pistons where as flat as the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Yup. A hemi, just in name. Seems spark-plug placement is the determining factor.

That and valve placement.
For me the 392 hemi from 1957 and 1958 is the real deal.
The 426 hemi of the sixties moved to being a semi hemi.:). The word Hemi has morphed into something other than the original meaning.
BTW so have I (morphed) in the 66 years since the first chrysler hemi was available in a car. --1951?---

Google image 1st gen heads and pistons, then 2nd gen. The combustion chamber is almost identical. Most 2nd gen pistons fill the hemi-chamber to a greater degree.

they are not throwing away their money maker so soon..LOL

time to buy a couple in the crates. put em in the garage for 50 years and ??

The hemi pertains to the shape of the combustion chamber. Unless we are talking about a diesel, the shape of the piston as nothing to do with it. The modern hemi heads are not true hemispherical combustion chambers, but who cares. The valve position and 2 rocker shafts make it close enough. Its basically a closed chamber hemi head. They are good engines in Stock form and can be built to make serious 4 digit power.

I don't want to contest details because I am not that up to speed on them. As I recall the 426 heads were indeed hemispherical but the valves (being canted at 90 degrees themselves) were not 90 degrees to the piston stroke to reduce the width of the engine. (this is starting to sound ****:)).
What I liked when I was 14 was the big fat head covers.:D It looked like what it was. A great piece of history that grew for various reasons.

Makes me want to ******* puke. If I wanted a supercharged V-6 in my full size pickup, I'd go hang out with those blue oval faggots.
Chrysler Fiat needs to start listening to its consumers more or its going to lose even more business. I see Chevy Colorados everywhere, half the people driving them would rather be in a Dakota.
Hopefully they keep the Hemi. Or at least the V-8.

The new ones may be going away but the old ones will only go away if we toss them.

That sounds like a Pelosi speech.

Donald Trump please tell EPA to go **** themselves and All par has to be wrong. we know it really isn't a Hemi but the closest we will get.

I fully agree. Let us play with our toys as we will and let the market tell us what we need to know about practical/clean commuting.
The idea that humans will **** in their own nest as a matter of course is nonsense.
