Ive seen a few posts where it is mentioned the headlights can be closed manually with a screw driver? Can anyone post a picture of where the screw is you would turn? I looked at the manuals and pics from the manuals but I still cant find them. I guess if the motors are stuck this wont work. I dont wanna pull the grill and such out to find them if possible. Mine's a '67 if that matters.
Thanks!

Think I found it. If I loosen the strap that holds the motor I can turn them by hand. I was looking at the motor itself for a hidden screw hole.

Good info. I'll have to have a look at my grill.

I have a 1966 Charger. I have the lights in the open position and unplugged. I tried playing with them and got em to work but it looks like the motors are weak and would probably fail when I need them most. Sorry to hijack your thread! Does anyone know where I could get replacement motors or what would fix a weak Headlight motor?

Think for now I will just carry a flat head screw driver with me and change them that way . Electrical is not my strong point.

Opening them manually by loosening the retaining clamp is probably not a good idea long term.
The gripping teeth get rounded off, then when you get a working motor its possible to rotate everything inside the clamp and round off the gripping teeth entirely.
A better solution short term is get some junk or non working motors and gears, take them apart and remove the gears. You can then just rotate the bucket by hand. It works pretty well in lieu of a complete system until you can get all the right working parts.

Yeah, I would tend to agree with Don. As an emergency, sure. But doing that continually will have adverse effects eventually.

Thanks for the input guys.
I dont drive mine at night very often so the half dozen time a year they are switched hopefully I will be ok.
