all,

I currently have stock wheels on my Coronet, and i'd like to buy either cragars or daisies. Can anyone provide a guideline on size of wheels and tires i can use...my car and body is 100%. i'd like to go as wide as possible on the back and thinner on the front as i have no power steering. Tires can and should be chunky, no need for low profile here. Thanks in advance. Also, any suggestions for online retailers would be nice as well.

best, Paul.

I've seen tires of all sizes, 245s 255s even 295s in the rear of B-bodies -- what I did when looking for tires/rims was to go to a Mopar show (De Anza College - Cupertino) and look at what others were running and talk to them re whether they had any problems with the tires they chose, especially once they were larger than 265/60/15. It also helped me decide what "look" I liked the best. Lots of '69 B-bodies at local shows! Like so many others, I went with 235/60/15s all around -- but could have also gone with 245s in the back (or larger), 235s up front. But, wanting to be able to rotate the tires took precedent over that. Just my 2 cents...

Love to see a 295 on a stock wheel well.....I run 255's on the rear...215's on the front...they clear with a bit of room but I have a mono spring/caltrac suspension that raises the rear 1 inch higher

This has got to be the "most-asked" question on this board. Tub-it.....and stretch the wheel-wheel openings.

thank you all, this is very helpful...i've been scanning the forum for tire/wheel combos and came across the attached car (posted by Hyrdoon)...these wheels sit really nicely....i believe these are 17 inch rims, so that would change the tire width/profile etc. anyway.....lots to think about...i'll try some sites that allow you to superimpose wheels on an image of your car to help. TorqThrusts always look good.

best, Paul.

ok guys, it's been a while, but the wheels and tires are ready-see attached. Now i put them on and they fit. Back tires fit, but there are a couple of spots on the wheel well which i have circled in blue that protrude. At some point i can see that they will probably scrape the tires. Should i get these rolled back or grind it down. seems like the roll back would be the cleanest option.

best, Paul.

On my 67 coronet I have vintage 15x7 with 3 3/8" backspace torq thrust wheels. Tires are 215/70-15. With people in the back seat the sidewall will barely rub the inner bulge that's up in the fender well on 66-67s on turns.

I had the same problem with L60s on the rear of my 68 GTX. I raised the rear 1-2" by getting couple of "add a leaf" to my springs in the back. Bought them from Summit Racing. Cheap fix at about 40$. Easy to install too. Now no rubbing.
