Type F is all I use in my performance cars,I have it in my 77 Camaro, my 69 chevy truck, 73 charger with a tci 727 trans and my 99 trans am, never have had any issues with trans in any of them and they all shift hard just like I want. Type F for me and it's cheaper than performance fuilds.

I also use Type F in my 727 pushbutton. With stock valvebody, kolene steels, red clutches, factory band torque settings, max wedge governor it will snap off shifts at 5800rpm.

I don't know how much of that is the fluid but whatever it is, I am not going to change it.

A retired Chrysler dealership shop tech rebuilt my 727 with bolt in sprag and JVX manual valve body and he put Dexron III in it.

You know we both used the same guy, (Thanks for the referral!) and I just talked to him yesterday. He says anything will work in those old trans, and he's right. He told me type F also, if you can find it. Dextron III is a good choice also. I like the old guy, glad we met

F type is a detergent based product and can take a lot more heat. my 70 runner used to get rubber out of second w/ a kit, put in F type got rubber out of third, never looked back

Been many years since running a built up 727 but have been using ATF+4 for many years now in the daily drivers. Day is a 95 Dakota, 97 Dodge diesel and a 2000 Durango and none of them have ever had the trans rebuilt.....actually, I've never had an auto transmission failure using any of the different types of fluid. I terrorize the Dak but I'm fairly nice to the others.

I have been using 303 hyd fluid with a qt of dextron for color swear by it there are great write-ups on line 30 for 5 gallons also!
