Hey guys,
I had this thread in the project/ resto. section, and wanted to move it to the restomod section.

Hi. I'm new to the forum, and want to document my Project. It is a1967 Satellite, building the car for all around performance, and cruising. I've had this since I was 18 years old(36 now), I drove this car in high school. Then retired it to weekend duty when I dropped in a nasty Big Block. When the gas prices sky rocketed, and only getting 7-9 mpg I decided to drop in a small block. I shopped for a 340/360 for a few months with very little luck, Then my friend was in a car wreck in his Ram pickup. Thank god he and everyone involved were o.k. The truck was totaled, so he offered to sell me the engine for my car, then I asked about some other parts from it. We quickly came to an agreement for the engine, transmission, wire harness, fuel pump, A/C system, and misc. for $500.00. With the whole truck at my disposal, I used every piece I could.

The 5.9 Magnum was in great shape internally, it didn't need to be rebuilt, But when I went on rockauto.com Parts to rebuild it was so cheap, I could not afford not to. I have driven the Ram a few times, and thought it could use more power, found a website called hughesengines.com where I picked up some performance parts, suck as a small cam, valve springs, other odds n ends. The transmission was services 40,000 before the wreck so it was a good unit, only thing I added was a shift kit. the trans tunnel on the Satellite needed some work for the A518 to fit, But wasn't too bad. The HVAC unit did fit under the dash with very little mods.

During the summer the car came together with the help of some very loyal friends.
Attached is a video with a short overview of the car.

Can't win them all. the next summer the car did great... until late August I could not drive RamRunner with the A/C on, the temps would climb to about 230*. Had to be a leak somewhere, but where. Saw nothing at the water pump, hoses, or intake. Then one day I was working on something under the car when I got dripped on. found my leak. I took the car to the radiator shop, they confirmed, a leaky freeze plug on the back of the block. This will not be an easy fix, as it will require an engine pull. So while it's out might as well upgrade.

Here we are now. In the process upgrading some parts. This video will catch you up.

In the last video I mentioned maybe using LS 2.00" valves, after meeting with my machinist we figured out the LS valve would not work, so I went with Mopar Magnum 2.02" valves.

Nice.

I need your help with the tuning, I am currently looking for a tuner for the 5.9 Magnum. Have any of you guys used SCT, or any other tuners?

My Magnum Engine Quest heads came back from the machine shop with the 2.02 intake valves. While I had to wait on them, I decided to shave my mast antenna (aways hated the way it looked.

MFR161048-6 Mopar torsion bar to coilover conversion.

This torsion bar to coilover conversion comes with our billet aluminum upper adapters, externally adjustable coilovers, countersunk allen bolts, and upper cross bolt. Some reinforcing of the upper shock towers and lower arm retention may be necessary. A-body Mopars should use our single adjustable upper control arms or bent style bushed control arms for adequate clearance. B and E-bodies can use any of our tubular upper control arms. Available with single or double adjustable coilovers. Single adjusts the dampening rate for both extension and compression simultaneously. Double allows extension and compression to be adjusted independent from each other.

g to improve my front suspension, ahs any one used this product from Magnum Force?

I considered that conversion and ended up buying the UCA's and dropped spindles to do it but by the time I had those and looked at the cost vs. just going the full transformer K Frame package it just made sense to step up and get the whole thing so that's what I did

I haven't, but you definitely need to reinforce the shock tower area. It doesn't have the strength to support the car. There are reinforcement kits available.

So, what cam did you go with?

I'm always interested in roller cam upgrades as I have both a roller LA 318 and a Mag 5.9 to play with, eventually.

See, I That's what I am thinking as well, their site shows the install, and they did not reinforce the shock tower. Furyus, you mentioned reinforcing kits, where have you seen them, I may be interested in shopping some. Thanks for the input.

I went with a Comp Cam 224* 230* .513" .513" 112 LSA. It's a custom grind from one of their small block grinds. the part number is 20-000-9.

Did you keep your torsion bars?
