Hayden fan clutch low profile

The fan I'm using on my 440 came off of a 383 with no clutch.
The fan you need will look like the one in this picture:

The direct drive fans do not have that big hole in the center.

In order to get more clearance between the clutch and the radiator I bought the new, shorter 2947 clutch but it moved the fan back too far and it would hit the AC compressor. Stupid me, I didn't think that one through. So, I put the other 2747 clutch back on.

Reviving this old thread - I have the 2947 HD short shaft fan clutch installed and it's WAY too loud because it won't free spin at all. It stays locked up even at cool engine temps. Reading online shows that many have had this same problem with HD fan clutch swaps (not just old mopars, but also newer vehicles of all makes). We're going to try another 2947 fan clutch first to see if mine was just wound too tight, but if it's also too loud, I'm thinking to try the standard duty short shaft Jaguar fan clutch, the Hayden 2765. The only concern with the 2765 is that it's not meant for long term use with a heavier steel fan like I have. Not sure about cooling efficiency using the 2765 with a steel fan.
