Hi,
I purchased a "barn find" from a senior gentlemen who knew nothing of the details of the car - a 65 Belvedere with a 70 440. From what I can determine, was originally a 383 , 4 spd and now it's a 440 with a/t, 3:55, sure grip. Someone may have tried to make it into a drag car in the 80's or 90's. It has a era - specific Mallory ignition with a Holley 750cfm from what I can get off the listing number. It has no choke and mechanical secondaries. Might have been fine once upon a time...but not very streetable. Also claimed to have an old Mopar " purple " cam, but unless I start digging into it, I don't know the spec's on it, though I do believe someone changes the convertor to one with a high stall and modified the valve body, though still a straight pattern. There should be an attached pic of the Holley that's now on there, on an Eddy RPM Performer.
I was thinking of going to a 750/770 Holley Street Avenger with an electric choke and vacuum secondaries, or the 750 that Summit offers, which I believe is just a re-branded Holley. I've had a few of Summit's 650 cfm carbs and they worked pretty much right out of the box.
I'm not going to race the car, just cruise nights ( I'm an old senior ) , though may like to " light'em up ", once in a while, so I do want the secondaries to open.
Any and all comments and recommendations would be sincerely appreciated .
