Now that I've replaced my 2 barrel carb and intake with a 4 barrel Holley 570 and air gap intake, my kickdown linkage is all the way out but still way too short. What is the best way to extend it?

I haven't done this myself, but off the top of my head I have two ideas.

#1 - cut/weld it - maybe find another similar kickdown linkage & cut the end off of it leaving as much of the "slot" as possible. Cut your stock one leaving as much of the "slot" as possible. Determine how much "extra slot" you need & tack weld the two together appropriately.

#2 - see if someone sells and aftermarket part (Lokar?) that you can use in place of your stock kickdown.

get the correct 4 barrel linkage for it. There is a difference beteen a 2 barrel and a 4 barrel linkage

Splice 5/16 by 18 threaded rod in with a coupler if you can't weld. You will need a coupler some threaded rod and a 5/16x18 due to thread the original rod.

Get a piece of round stock from Lowe's...Same size diameter as your current linkage. Using your vice and a small sledge hammer, put a 90deg bend at one end to match your stock piece. Put any bends in to get the bar to track to the carb correctly. Cut it to length, then thread the end to accept your original 'channeled' piece at the carb. Install & adjust.

If you don't have access to a thread cutter, but do have access to a welder...Find a bolt of proper thread, cut the head off and weld the bolt to the end. Grind smooth and polish. Done. Either way works well

Your best all round fix is the cable system sold by Bouchillon Performance. Lokar is too fu*ckin' complicated to install. Look at the instructions online for both and you'll agree. Been using Bouchillon's cable for five years with an air gap and it works flawlessly.

You will have a very difficult time finding anyone locally that stocks bar stock in anything but 5/16 by 18 which is not what you need. Stock Chrysler kickdown linkage is 5/16 by 16

I been down this road before and I just buy the correct kickdown because I can wait for the mail and don't have to drive my car right away but if you are anxious my option is just one of many
