Just recently bought 66 satellite and looking to replace rims. I have no experience in aftermarket rims and was hoping maybe someone could save me a potential headache. Was thinking I'd like a modern style larger diameter, 16×7 front and 16×8 rear. Anyone have any experience with any problems I may have with this plan. What about 17? Am looking at the vintage wheel works v45s. Anyone know if these are a decent rim. Any input would be appreciated.

Congrats on your new acquisition, they are great cars and I love mine! I just have this to add about wheels. Because I like the look of the chrome magnum 500 wheels I bought them for mine all around, without driving the car all that much to check out how drum brakes all around stoping the car. Mine is 383 four barrel, and I am very LIGHT footed. With just drum brakes, it is a little hairy at times if you have to stop suddenly, and remember I'm NOT a lead foot! That said, then a little while after buying the magnums I thought about putting front disc brakes on, of which I was told that they will not work with the magnums. I didn't take it any farther than that yet to see if in fact I would have to get different wheels. My advice is to do your due diligence in homework about what you'd like to do braking wise with your satellite, before you go and buy wheels. GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you very much! I am a newbie was thinking of clearance issues and had never even considered that side of things. I know what you mean I keep mine at safe speeds cause she sure don't stop on a dime. Again thank you! Will consider that

Personally, I'd keep it in the family and get some 15" Magnum 500's and be done with it. I wouldn't go bigger then that.

I know what you mean. Don't get me wrong, love a shiny set of magnum 500's but was just tossing around the thought of something slightly outside the box.

I looked into the v45 at one point. Nice rim. Bob mosher used them on a few of his superstocks so they must be good. Also have a look at ET wheels vintage V or classic V. I ended up choosing the vintage v. Super nice and good quality.

Thank you. Great looking rims. Pricey too! Get what you pay for is usually how it works. Will investigate.

FYI the vn501 17 inch magnum replicas are 188 each from summit with center caps.

17 inch 275/45/17 summitomos are 90 bucks a pop.

15 inch tires like 275/60/15 or 295/60/15 tend to run 120 plus

I have a 67 GTX with 15x7 Magnums all around and 215/75 tires. They just barely can squeeze by the fender lip on the rear in trying to mount them with the axle hanging at full drop. So look carefully at your backspacing if trying to fit wide rims on the back of a 66/67 b-body.

Not familiar with those tires but I'll check them out. Price sounds right. Thank you!

Good information to know. Thank you for passing along.
