Got a good deal on a pair of cars. Plans were to sell one and keep the other. the Charger came home for a clean up and pictures and the roadrunner went to a storage yard. Had a buddy of mine pass my number out to anyone who would take it, and within an hour, I had one guy calling me every 30 minutes begging for the car. Was not asking much on the car, I got a good deal, and figured I'd pass it along. It's a 70 purple charger 500 buddy seat column shift automatic car with a factory sunroof. After finally agreeing to hold the car for the guy, he said he'd need a week to come up with the cash. We hung up and 5 minutes later he called back and asked if we had a deal and wanted to make sure I would not sell it to anyone else. I said yes. Guy I got the pair from held them for me for a day (told him I'd be there the next day with every little bit of what he was asking, and was), and I wanted to be decent and pass that offer to the next guy as well.

It's one day short of a week now and it's not looking like he will have the cash. He called me yesterday and asked how much it would be to ship it to California.

Would not do much mind him needing a little longer, but the RM27 70 roadrunner is sitting in the midddle of a storage yard, and I'm very worried it will be stolen or parts will be taken.

Is it time to cut ties with this buyer (tomorrow of course, the 7 days he told me he needed) and move it along to Craigslist to get it gone? Or would I be acting unfairly?

As a side note, if I've been fair with him and it's time to move along, if anyone here wants to buy the car, Id take 2000 for it. On Craigslist, it'll be a little higher than that. It Needs metal, was from Wisconsin. Needs a majority of the frame rails, lower quarters, rocker undersides, trunk, tail panel, floors (though they aren't terrible) fenders are decent, doors are decent, and hood is decent. A and B pillars are good, was a vinyl top car, no holes in the roof, though there are some holes where the passenger side Sail panel meets the rear of the quarter. Not much on it as far as parts go, sunroof is there, but it's got some holes in the top metal, nothing structural though and definitely fixable. controls for the sunroof are missing. No fender tag on the car, but has a vin and the numbers from the core support and trunk gutter match. No drive train. Rallye dash frame is there and without rust. All glass is there and good.

Perhaps the guy did a drive by and changed his mind thinking you had misrepresented the condition of the vehicle. After reading the last paragraph of your post, I'm under the impression that the only guys who can fix what's wrong with the car is Graveyard Cars. Did you give all this imformation to your perspective buyer cause to me the car sounds like a bit of a "train wreck" and too expensive for the average guy to restore. You gave him seven days and their gone, roll the dice on Craigshit and who knows, there's one born every second.

Told the buyer everything I could, sent him a bunch of pictures. Made sure to tell him exactly the shape of the car.

I would move on, the 'gut' comment is spot on. If this was someone you knew then maybe hang out a couple more days. If the guy can't come up with $2k for the car within a day I'm not sure what 7 will do. If the guy has to go pay check to pay check to buy a car maybe he shouldn't be buying a car. Not too many excuses on this one for me to accept.

Here's what I would do... get him on the phone and remind him tomorrow is the big day. See what happens. I think you'll hear - I need more time...

I suppose you did not get a deposit right?

He is asking about shipping a non running, unseen major project from Texas to California?
This is an odd deal. Charger 500 or not.
That's a local sell. Anyone that can't come and look at the car isn't a potential real buyer, I would guess.

i would give him a hard deadline of a couple of days at best and then move on
tell him you will have storage fees on a car you have
if its not gone soon and you cannot wait, you need the room.

Here's what I've done.

You want to buy the car, $500 deposit and the rest within a week. No deposit, I'm not holding it for you.

Did I read that right? A bucket seat, console with a column shift? I don't think that is right. You'd need some type of delete plate where the PRND12 indicators are.

They had them in 68 for sure.

Yes, that is correct. One of few, this is the second car that I've ever seen to have it. Will throw some pictures up tomorrow

I meant to write PRND21.
I would like to see pictures of that. Thanks!

Kerndog I'm sorry I don't have pictures but you could get in 68 a center console bucket seat column shift car. I looked at a green coronet rt convertible with orange tail stripe and shifter delete center console this past summer. Guy wouldn't sell it but I seen it with my own eyes which led me to look further and it is factory

Thats just feeding my curiosity!

EDIT:
My mistake, it was a buddy seat car. Back to only having seen one column shift console car before.

if possible, please take a pic of the sunroof area.
not many factory sunroof cars out there.

that console is nifty as well,
you can see its original and theres no hole or boot for the shifter either.
question,i see the cars stripped hard,
do you actually have the console w the top delete plate?

and,what motor is it originally?
im gonna guess either a 318 or 383?

It appears to be an armrest/buddy seat. Look at the second picture down and you will not see a front console bracket by the gas pedal. It also appears to be an original white car by the white on the brackets and the firewall by the pedals.

Oops, you are absolutely correct, it is a buddy seat car. Not sure whats going on with the white paint inside, but there's no white under any of the purple on the car that I've seen. Pulled up some rubber and have been all over the car.

Buddy seat car, my mistake. Only a 318 car. But it is what appears to be a factory sunroof car in the way it is tied into the roof and wiring.
Missing fuse on the right in the fuse box was for the power top, seems to have melted at some point in time.
