starting on my new roadrunner. Have been hoarding parts for a 70 roadrunner in preparation for this, but did not expect a drop top to fall in my lap. It's a 383 auto on the column with air conditioning. FY1 lemon twist with stripe delete from the looks of it (under the orange of course). It was in a wrecking yard and had its floor cut out with an oxy torch. Trunk is tin and pop riveted in.

Convertible parts are mostly there, but a lot of other parts are missing. Buying a just rebuilt 383 for it. I have some ported and polished heads, various interior parts, and various under the hood parts. All of which will wait though, until the new metal is on and the paint is dry. AMD sent me new floors, floor extensions, under the back seat, driver door jamb, 1 inner and outer wheel well house, trunk floor, trunk extensions, and quarters. May end up having to buy trunk gutters and the other set of wheel well housings. It's got a little rust in it...

Question: I've heard the body isn't too strong, should I weld in some frame stiffeners while the car is tore down for the new body panels? If so, which points should I tie together? Plan to have 450hp at the flywheel and a 3.23 or 3.55 sure grip rear end.
No fender tag or buildsheet so I'm not too concerned with doing a back to factory restoration.

Also, what convertible parts would crossover to fit this? Need the latches (currently bailing wire), A pillar trim, dash switch and who knows what else.

Man!!!!!! You have a diamond in the ruff there bro.. I would think that baby would be worth some bucks after a restore. Aren't those rare? I thought I read that converts had some extra frame and body stiffening parts from the factory. Does it have torque boxes? I put uscartool subframe connectors on my hard top 68 b-body, very easy to install and very strong. Love them 70 RR's!

Nice find, I love 70 RRs, and a convertible is sweet!
My 64 convertible had some flex in it but it does have factory torque boxes and thick plates in the rockers. I added frame connectors anyway.

Absolutely !!! Didn't know they repopped these.
I recall buying new ones last year for my 67 Barracuda convertible for $50 for the pair. I think it was a typo on the website, but they honored the price. I don't recall who I bought them from unfortunately.

It looks like you need a hood, and I just happen to have a fiberglass hingeable unit made by another Mfg. out of Florida which I will be selling for half the price of new, which is $290 plus shipping. I am Sled City Fiberglass and my site is on the web.

Update on the Roadrunner. Sheetmetal is almost done, paid a buddy to put it all on. I still have a little to do with it that was outside of the buddy deal; cut the anti rattle wedge holes out on the jambs, weld some holes up from under the battery tray, fix the Dutchman panel's front lip, put the seat and emergency cable brackets on, and fix some holes in the convertible top frame. Wound up getting a new cowl for the car to fix the windshield gutter right.
Was missing a whole lot of convertible parts, I picked up a destroyed 68 satellite convertible for its rear seats and door panels. Got a lot of other small parts with it.

Found some info on its history, had a 400 auto in it as well as sidepipes in 1985 when someone blew the transmission through the floor. Got sent to Mr. B's salvage in Texarkana where it got partially stripped and cut up. Someone drug it out in 1992 for 400 dollars and stuck it in their barn in North Texas until their passing in early 2017. His wife gave this car and a 1970 charger 500 sunroof, white vinyl top, plum crazy, white interior, to a family friend who was strictly ford. I picked them both up from there. Charger was a total rot box and was moved along.

nice scores have been looking for one in B5 blue in ext. and int. 440 4 spd , might start looking for a sat or GTX if I don't find RR

Havent made much progress aside from turning it sideways and gathering up parts. DA sanded every square inch of the car, should have it all primed soon, then will get the engine bay, trunk, floors and bolt on metal painted yellow. First going to mock up a 68-70 charger gas filler system though. Ready for the purists to slaughter me for that one...

Little bit of color on it, still need to get ahold of some 70 B body bucket seat tracks so I can mount my seats, then fit up the console. Charger gas filler assembly should be going on next week along with a lot of small welding touch ups.

Not much progress. Fixed the Dutchman lip and all the other little rust spots. Short on cash but other projects are plentiful, so it's just been sitting and waiting for body and paint.
