I have a 69 Sport Satellite; front grille needs repair to replace (2) of the top locating/attachment rods that anchor grille to the top of the hood latch panel. I think there are (4) total...2 of mine were apparently busted off at the nut end when body shop removed grille for repainting engine compartment. If I remove the grille, can I replace those threaded pins with something else? Any ideas or help is much appreciated. I can post pics later if necessary but won't be home until tomorrow. Hopefully this is enough info for now. Thanks!

Lexi; If you are talking about the long attaching bolts, yes.
Are these long bolts (in pic) what you are referring to?

Thanks Partsmonsta. That's exactly what I am referring to. I can't see behind my grille, but your photo looks like they thread into the grille side, and then get the nut on opposite side to attach. If that's the case, is there a particular thread size I need to search for? Looks like a piece of all-thread or a stud threaded each end would work, if correct in length and thread. Is this accurate to assume, on my part?

On the original, there is a self tapping screw that goes into the grill and the other end was machine threaded to attach too the grill support. For repair, I gathered up a few long machine screws, cut the heads off, drilled the grill and epoxied them in.

Thanks for that information Threewood. That makes sense, and I'd rather repair my original than buy a new repro. This will give me a good start on how to take care of this. Lexi

Here is an original next to what I used. And I think a few are a bit longer. Thread size is 10-24. I used a nut and washer for the shoulder.

Thanks so much! This is so helpful and clears up my questions & concerns. I may tackle this myself...I'd like to fix & use my original grille, which was never removed until I had the car in to freshen up engine compartment, etc. I know attachment points are tricky/fragile, and subject to breaking easily; I spoke to body shop today to express my disappointment in them not telling me 2 of the bolts broke in disassembly. If they would have told me, this could have been taken care of while the car was still there. I guess it's another case of "CYA". I'll probably do the repair myself and will change out all of 4 of those top attachment bolts. Thanks again for your help on this. Lexi
