I am having trouble finding a vendor who sells a positive battery cable harness,(if such a thing exists) for a 65 Belvedere II with a Big Block. Insight appreciated. Thanks Thunder

Based on a quick search, looks like a 65 cable may be hard to find. Maybe improvise with a 66 cable?

I got one for my 64 S F awhile back! I'll try to find the receipt for who I bought it from! I'll let you know.

Just what is so special about a positive battery cable? Can't you have one custom made?

Another cable runs with it ,and is spliced into it through an unusual connector for the starter relay. Seeing if it is available first, then go to plan B. My original is a mess. Would like to see what the whole thing should look like.

We are in the process of doing the 65 positive cable, it is a different cable from the 62 to 64 positive cable. I would be interested in seeing a picture of the 65 original cable. We are building these cable off of assembly line cables and not off of NOS parts counter pieces. If you were to look up the part number for the 65 positive cable it would supercede over to a variety of model years and applications. Just finished up the 66 A-Body small block cable which had not been available before with the correct wires and colors. We have sourced the drab olive green wire to make the cables as correct as possible.
We got a ground cable last week from a 64 Sport Fury with a 318 Poly motor and it had a square head. Joe Suchy has loaned us some original cables, but we still do not have all of the configurations covered.

I will take a pic or 2 and send it to you. Also, I spoke to Joe Suchy today and he told me he did offer the cable ...shows on his listing.. 62-65 "B" positive battery cable.

If you look at the 65 cable vs the 62 to 64 cable, you will see an extra cable for the 62 to 64 B-Body application. Other than the head being replaced on the 65 cable, does there appear to be any other work done on the cable? From all of the samples that we have came across, the 65 B-Body positive cable more resembles the cables used in 66 especially the V8 A-Body applications. Also in 65, you started to seeing the more conventional cable head and not the square head. Joe buys the cables from us and the 62 to 64 cable would probably work, but as expensive as the cables are, we had rather do them correctly if it is not going to drastically change the cost. Some people could care less about the head style or cable colors, but compare a cable from us vs the cables that are out there and our desire is to have the best and most correct piece available.

The only repair to the harness that I can see is yes the battery post end. I also did notice the extra lead from your photo,( a three pair) as compared to the two pair going down to the starter on mine. Am I able to buy from you? If so ,provide me some info. Thanks for your efforts. Thunder

If anyone has a very nice positive or negative cable and the heads have been mangled up due to jumper cables and battery chargers, we can replace the heads. As pictured above, many people have went the route of adding the generic parts store cable head. If the cable has not been cut back substantially, this is an alternative to some. We have done several cables for the "Survivor" cars who want to retain the original cables. If the cable has been cut back too much, then that will not allow us to pour a new cable end and allow enough cable to reach.
Does anyone know of any original Max Wedge cables and how they compare to the current reproductions? As I have stated earlier, most cables are just a mix of different components that were placed together to make one assembly. There were basically two different vendors of the cables and may have only been one for the 62 to 65 model years. So when putting an assembly together, a head from a slant 6 could very well be the same as a head for a aluminum nose lightweight car. The only difference being the lengths of the cable, number of lugs, type of lugs and sheathing. So that we have the different components, it is a matter of having an original sample to work from.
In order to purchase directly from us, just drop me a private message and I will respond as soon as possible. Thanks for all input as this is always a learning experience.
