My argrabber actuator is leaking from the shaft so it's slow to open. Do you know a source for that seal and is-it difficult to change?

I don't know if that diaphragm is available as I haven't had my GTX in years but I did take the actuator apart at the crimp and repair the diaphragm with a tire patch kit. It worked after that until I sold the car years later.

Gentlemen,
Can you be more specific as to the car....1970 was the first year for the vacuum actuator (vacuum to extend the actuators shaft - thru the fitting on the shaft end of the actuator ). Herb's parts was selling repop units for $200+, but at present is not. I'm searching for a source for my N96 air grabber on my 1970 GTX. presently, I'm using a modified 1968 Charger hidden head light actuator...its similar in appearance but connection to the door linkage is different. Suggestions????

That seal is leaking, by the shaft...

Phil,
Mine is totally different....there is an accordion pleated bellows on the shaft. The housing is not removable or seperable at least it appears so, as well as the vacuum nipples are different. The Mopar part number on the correct actuator is: 3508190, while the part number on the hidden head light actuator is: 2926861. Mine appears not to have a serviceable rod seal, only the bellows which is secured to the shaft with a zip tie.
How did you get yours apart? The physical dimensions are the same: mounting stud dimensions, length, center lines, etc.
There was/is a person on the Internet that was trolling for business saying that he could fix or repair your actuator. Any information / help would be appreciated. Thanks

Bob, i took off the accordeon. Was tied to the shaft with a tie rap also. there was a small tear on the seal, use a bit of silicone, way better. Still leaking but not much. Will check for part number.

Phil,
Thanks for the email...
My N96 air grabber uses the # 3508190 actuator. I bought a couple of # 2928861 actuators as functional spares and made the rod end pin to flapper linkage connector.
The one on the car is OK and I have a good spare....but I'm always looking for the correct one at swap meets/car shows. This is just a hard to find part. Thanks......

View attachment 434259 View attachment 434259 View attachment 434260 View attachment 434260 I have actuator issues myself. When I got my car in 2013 the air grabber took forever to open and then nothing at all. In 2015, I purchased a reproduction from Herb's and it lasted about a month. I called Bob and he sent me another, it lasted until this past Saturday. Unfortunately, when I called Bob at Herb's, he told me that due to so many problems with that part, they chose to discontinue selling it. So basically, I am out 200+ and my air grabber doesn't work anymore. I'm not going to spend another 200+ on a junk PG Classic reproduction, so what next? Here are a couple of shots of my original actuator, I think it can be rebuilt but I don't even know how it opens! I talked to Alan at Wilson Productions Inc in Missouri, I'm waiting to hear back from him but in the meantime, anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks as always!

I am looking to get a shaft seal for the 3509180 actuator. Any idea where I could get it?
Alternatively, if you had the dimensions/measurements of the seal, I’ll try and find one/get one made. I assume the entire seal is rubber. Can you let me know?
Thanks very much. I am on a mission to try and resolve the seal issue for these actuators as we are all dealing with a similar problem.

I got a pair of charger headlight door actuators and used one of them for parts to fix mine , you can uncrimp them .

Please show us (me) how this is accomplished...pixs would be nice. The difference between the headlight door actuators and the air grabber actuator is: 1) the vacuum connections are different sizes and orientation; 2) the rod end connection to the air grabber linkage is totally different, and must be adapted. Yes...they can be used and will work but look different.
I've tried to "uncrimp" the canister but destroyed it.....please enlighten me just how this is done....i have 2 that need replacement/repaired...

Bob,
Did you get any resolution to your Air Grabber issue? I am having problems with mine and may send it for a rebuild, but I am a little hesitant unless you have some good experience with Wilson Products.
Thanks!
