One of the youngsters at work has taken a shine to the Aero Warriors. After explaining the conversion (roughly) to him, he asked why use the Coronet parts.I told him it was to blend the hood & fenders down to the nose. Then he asked if the bird & Daytona noses are different, why didn't they make the bird nose fit the car's original fenders ? Dammed if I could answer him
Anybody know, or have an opinion ?

Probably came down to economics of scale....use what you have to keep the cost and time frame as tight as possible. Makes perfect sense to utilise already formed arts with some extra small mods. At least they didn't use some crappy old Ferd or Gee'M parts.

Your reason is correct, if they tried to develop it off the 69 bird fenders I think the assembly would have been much higher as the coronet fender had a slope to them, the egos wouldn't have been as good r looks as good too...?

It was actually a good question from the kid. I would have just sloped the nose on the Rr fenders. The nose would have been what, 6-8 inches longer ? Odd.

70 Coronet is the first of the "lipstick" bumper cars, well sort of anyway.

Much, much different than a 70 RR/Sat/Bel, and easier to adapt a flush fitting nose cone, since the leading edge of the coronet fenders are vertical and straight.

Ok, the 70 Charger also has a wrap around bumper, but the nose is longer in front of the wheels, IIRC, and the body lines don't line up as nicely.

The '70 Coronet looks like it has a pair of Edsel grilles for bumpers. I've never cared for the looks of the '70 front.
