Hi,
I like to present my little project here.
In my introduction I stated I'am from Germany, so it will be maybe one of a kind in Europe ...

OK, back to topic.
Here a short overview what is planned for this project:
- 1971 Plymouth GTX base
- Engine: 540 cui Hemi conversion (440 based, Stage V conversion)
- Transmission 833 or 855
- Front suspension: QA1 with own made components
- Rear suspension: 04 Cobra IRS
- Body: Mostly original + full roll cage and other improvements

Currently the body ist back from sand blasting.
The progress stuck a bit because my first daughter is born 3 weeks ago ...

I will post some pictures later !

Looking forward to seeing this build! Congrats on the new addition to the family!

Once a year I order Stollen from Germany...My moms side of the family are from Germany!

Sounds like a super-cool car! The only thing I would mention is that the '03/'04 Cobra independent rear suspension rear ends are know to break. There was a guy that drag raced an '03 Cobra two blocks from me. He said he was planning to put in a solid axle 8.8" rear end (from a Mustang GT) because it was stronger.

Nice build I use to own a 71 RR for 9 1/2 year with a 440 hemi 4 speed and a Dane with a air grabber hood so I have a soft spot for 71's I even took it to Italy for 3 years. I love hemi's but the car would handle better with a 440 and aluminum heads, intake, water pump. Take some weight off the nose and make the car handle better. This is my 2 cents, but saying that popping a hood open and seeing a nice Hemi is just Mopar ****.

Thanks,
I'm aware that the 03/04 Cobra IRS isn't the strongest, but I do not plan to go to the strip - for road racing it should be strong enough with some modifications.
It isn't easy to get all parts that I need here, so everything must be imported, so I choosed the platform where the parts can be found easily ...

Thanks, Yes the 440 have more low end power.
But as you said, I love the look when you open the hood - engine **** ;) !

Some pictures after sandblasting and some epoxy coat ... (the red "glow" is from the car underneath ;))

Nice project
Nice looking parts too
Congrats on the 1st daughters birth, proud papa

good luck keep us posted

Looks like a very solid car to start with, not much rot.

Hi,
yes it is a pretty solid car.
The most attention is needed in the cowl area, otherwise some pin holes in the driver floor pan, some holes in the deck filler panel and in the lower quarters.

Both fenders and also the deck lid need also work (the inner deck lid structure is very bad).

Hi,
Today I had some time ... so I started to remove the upper cowl section.
Unfortunately I destroyed 5 drill bits for spot weld removal - so I couldn't finish it today ...

I look forward to the engine build
& the trans, IRS rear end assembly installed too

Alex,
That's going to be a nice project. Not too much rot; we've all been there. Do you plan on installing subframe connectors? I have them on my Coronet, they make a difference. Good luck; I'll be watching your progress.

Good morning (at least here),
Yes I will install subframe connectors (I have a pair from US Car Tool).
I also will weld in a bunch of other reinforcements.

I made some progress in the last couple of days.
Started to remove the upper cowl area ... a lot of spot welds had to be removed.

After I removed the sheet metal, I cleaned the areas and put on a rust converter.

And I also started removing the inner wheel wells.
I will mini tub them, but I will do it a way that hopefully it will look stock when I finished ...

You can see I also drilled out the spot welds here, so I can reuse it.
