Carb and intake been on my car prolly 7yrs or so. Never once have i ever put anything but gasoline thru that carb. Carb cleaner was known to me, but I never put its use into practice. I guess my carb just didn't look like it needed it. Today with my exhaust problem partially fixed for the time being, my car was still not running too well. It was hesitating and kinda lurchy as though i was missing or had an ignition issue. Within the last month I purchased all new plugs, coil, wires, cap. The whole ignition is new now. So I thought the spark plugs had probably fouled and I'd go and buy new plugs. Or maybe clean and regap to a smaller gap, the ones I have installed now and see if maybe I can just keep the plugs I bought for later. I bought a couple cans of carb cleaner to clean the plugs after I remove them. Well, before I left the auto store, I thought maybe I'll just spray that stuff all over in my carb before I turn the car on. And when the car finally started, it ran so much differently in a good way I was very surprised. I got home and sprayed it in some more with the car running and kinda gunned the motor. Then I took some sea-foam and poured some of that crap in there I'm not sure if it did much.. Then I took out the idle adjustment screws and sprayed cleaner in there too. Overall between the two they did something to make it run much better. Maybe it cleaned fouled plugs, maybe ports in the carb were varnished and it cleaned them out, maybe there were carbon deposits in the manifold and unblocked them. I dunno, but it worked, and worked well. Also this wasn't all that short of a long story, was it?
