OK I put a pertronix IGNITOR III in my 65 . It said to bypass the ballast resistor but I wanted to keep the factory look ! We made this out or plastic to take its place. It uses the factory mounting bracket and the spade connectors with an 8 gauge wire between them . Will fill the back with clear epoxy . Now I got all the juice.

Instead of plastic could you gut the porcelin and use the 8 gauge? Cool idea though.

That is what I did on my 65, but the plastic repop is a neat idea.

I used an old porcelain one, gutted, with 10 ga wire soldered to the connections and sealed with epoxy resin.
